-sigh - It gets wearying, doesn't it, rich, these presumptions? i can't speak for other women, but i'm one who wouldn't avoid a musician because of that . He loses merit for things like lack of responsibility, lack of good manners, substance abuse, general inability to manage his life and engage on a respectful level with another human being.

People who dismiss other people based on their own stereotyping habits aren't worth it anyway, imho.

Musicians can be the best boyfriends also. To be honest, I've only really dated musicians and I have had a couple of great bfs that were musos, so like you said that is just a stereotype and doesn't always hold truth to it.

As a musician myself, I prefer to date other musicians. But for people who would stereotype other people...musicians are more than rockers out partying all the time. Music is a combination of math, dedication, team work etc..... We are smart people. Next time "those" people start stereotyping musicians, they should get to know us first.

Depends.

Is he able to support himself with music? If not, is he willing to do other work on the side to pay the bills?

And there do seem to be different personalities tied in with different types of guitar players. Bass players are usually different from the lead guitarist.

I've dated guitar players (and vocalists) in the past, and would again, as long as they weren't using "I'm in the band" as an excuse to never work for a living. Being a REAL musician IS hard work.

I think musicians are the most creative people out there! I like dating musicians, and there isn't a stereotype which applies toall people of any group. Of course some guitar players are unfaithful and flighty, but so are some physicians!

My experience is that women seem quite fond of musicians, amateurs and professionals.
