For anybody who saw the newest Batman movie (The Dark Knight), I wonder if you were left thinking about it like I was. First, saw it in IMAX and it was purely awesome. There were some scenes that were shot on actual IMAX film, so the clarity was intense.

But I was also thinking about a lot of things. Like the boat incident? My friend and I were talking about this and he brought up the point that the detonaters probably triggered the boat they were on (instead of the other boat).

Or which of the stories about Joker's scars was true?

We were also debating the fact that the Joker tricked Batman into saving Dent.

All in all, a very good movie to see and I think it says a lot about how society runs. ::shrug:: Opinions?

Dark Knight was PHENOMENAL! I've already seen it twice.

Those are interesting points you bring up. But I like the symbolism of the characters more.

Batman: "Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now...and so we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector...a dark knight. "

Harvey Dent: Being the "Great Hope" for Gotham that ultimately was compromised yet he still represents the hero that people ultimately want in an elected official. He represents the ideal gone bad.

The Joker: "And in their desperation they turned to a man they didn't fully understand. Some men aren't looking for anything logical. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn"

Everyone one of these aspects can be disscussed for days.

I actually leaned over and commented while the movie was running that I believed the detonator would blow up the boat they were on. I also don't think either of the jokers stories about his scars were true. I think the whole point was that he was mentally unbalanced and that was just part of how he tried to get into peoples heads. I wouldn't read too much into the smile because they told two stories that canceled each other out so as to not actually tell you how he got his scars that way they wouldn't have to answer to the batman critics, but what they were really doing was using it as a setup for the final scene where batman tells him "No, but I know where you got these from" before shooting him with the gauntlet spikes.

The main point of the movie that I really liked was that ideals cannot be corrupted, but people can be. That was the whole point in corrupting Harvey Dent and Batman being the "ideal" that they made him out to be in the end. Men who look to other men for their hope are eventually disappointed, but an idea can live forever as an uncorruptible force.

I have to say this was hands down the best Batman of them all. I never thought I would end up saying this but Heath Ledger played a better Joker then Jack Nickolson did. Jack is a phenominal actor and for someone to play a charecture he did and actually do it better says a lot. Don't get me wrong there will never be another saying like "Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moon light." But that whole lip smacking tongue thing Heath did through out the whole movie was very creepy. I don't think that the detonators would have blown up their own ships. Yes that is another layer of twistedness that would have been right up the jokers sleeve but I just don't see it. They left it open for a third movie but in order to avoid campiness I don't see that they have any other villians they can bring in that won't take it down the road of camp. They might bring in the Riddler but I think it would be hard. Cat Woman and The Penquin would just end being camp as would Mr Freeze or that dude who had the thing for the fancy jeweled eggs. I guess there is nothing that couldn't stop them from making up a new villian if they do a third movie thou the Batman junkies would have a fit if they did.

Fantastic movie - and I am not really into the whole Superhero thing or excessively violent movies. But DK was riveting.

I also had the thought about the detonators blowing up their own boats. That whole scenario was intense.

I have to agree with JHerndon, I saw it that sameway. I loved the morale behind the movie, it was truly an amazing movie.

I have to say, what happened to Rachel really threw me for a loop. That was twisted but great at the same time.

It was a great movie.

Both with Batman as well as Dark Knight I have been pleased to see them return to what the comic books were all about. Batman was never funny as you saw with the old series and Adam West. Having grown up with Batman as a kid, it was nice to finally see him as he should be on the big screen. The only sad thing is that there will not be another instance of the Joker and truthfully I couldn't see anyone else playing the part now.

I've seen it twice and getting ready for my 3rd round which will be at IMAX.

Am I the only twisted female who felt attracted to Joker?

... i was thinking it would trigger the boat they were in.. just cuz the joker is that way..

of course the joker KNEW batman would go for rachel.. that is why he starts poking fun at the way he looks at her.. and joker need dent alive.. so he lead batman to the wrong one..

the scar stories i think were just made up to get inside the persons head a little more.. if you remember when he is in the jail cell with that cop.. and he was saying he knew his friends better than the cop knew them.. it was all a scare kinda thing.. play with their mind before he kills them.. you never really know which one is true.. or which one he makes up.

you got to keep in mind the joker is a tricky villain he always has something up his sleeve (hence the name joker) so anything is possible with him
