I've seen the movie "Dan in Real Life" 3x now and as a man, I love it. It is a romantic drama/comedy but the story from the man's perspective is indeed very manly and sentimental.

It also reflects on the trials and joys of a large family and brings back memories of reunions.

Highly recommended to everyone.

Did you ever see Duets or even 30 days notice? Those are two good ones!

Thanks for the vote - I saw a trailer for this a wee while back and it looked fun. You've tipped me over the edge now to rent it sometime.

My favorite of the past year or so was Stranger than Fiction. While the premise was a bit nutty, the truths about living in the present, and being authenticwere quite profound.

I dunno.

I generally liked the movie. The soundtrack was great - I bought the cd afterward - and the way Dan's relationship with his daughters was protrayed was wonderful, but I was/am uneasy that it's apparently considered okay to fall in love after only a few hours' acquaintance, so deeply that you pursue your sibling's girlfriend. Especially when the character is just coming out of a period of deep mourning - not the best recipe for a good relationship between the pair or among the larger family.

It was entertaining and had some wonderful comedy, but the central message about hurling yourself precipitously between another couple (and during a family reunion) made me wince.

I agree! I watched it twice and thought it was hysterical. Reminds me of how annoying your own family can be, but how much we love them anyway.
