Holidays can be so inspiring sometimes!

With the up coming holidays I would love to hear of 10 (or any number really!) movies you are thankful for, ones that have moved you, inspired you, the ones that stick with you.

In no particular order, mine are:

American Beauty

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

The Matrix

My Fair Lady

Moulin Rouge!

Tombstone

Notting Hill

Scrooged

Gone with the Wind

Pride and Prejudice (the A&E version)

There are more, but off the top of my head, these are some of the movies that have either inspired me or been a staple in my life.

What are yours?

I LOVE this movie! Anne Baxter is the epitome of a conniving, manipulative witch!

I love Bette Davis also, her witchiness is much more out there and I ADORE that about her!

Awesome choice!

It is definitely one of favorites, as you can see from my list, I like the oldies

I actually named my daughter after Bette Davis' character in the movie.

Fun fact: Bette Davis and the guy that played Bill in the movie married shortly after filming was complete. They eventually adopted a daughter that they named Margot.

I knew that Bette Davis and Gary Merrill had been married, but I did not know that they had named their daughter Margot.......thanks for the tidbit of trivia. I will have to make sure I tell my daughter that, sometimes she complains because "no one else" has her name.

Believe it or not, I have had people ask me if I made the name up myself because they have never heard it ....oh well!

This is a fun thread, I didn't notice it before. Most of these have a lot of personal meaning for me.

Carousel

Marty

Little Women (the 90s Winona Ryder version)

Anne of Green Gables/Anne of Avonlea (yes I know it was a miniseries)

The Shop Around the Corner

Life With Father

Singin' in the Rain

Julie & Julia

Cheaper by the Dozen (the old one, not that hideous Steve Martin one)

An American in Paris

The Pianist

Gosh I could come up with many more.. I agree with many other folks' selections too.
