Dude, the one that always gets me (and is such a cliche) is The Exorist. Yup. Scary pea soup scenes freak me out. Silver Bullet is another classic.
I forgot about Silver Bullet. The Dead Zone was a nice paranormal film also ... most everything else based on a Stephen King script starts out strong and sucks hard about halfway.

... The Exorcist? I finally caught that one late at night in the past couple years ... everyone always talked it up so much ... I was NOT impressed :P And what was up with that beginning portion with the guy in the desert? I didn't see any connection between it an the rest of the film.

At the 5th grade county science fair, I saw about the first 30-45 minutes of Watcher In The Woods before being dragged into another room where IJ:RotLA was playing (had already seen it). But that first bit of Watcher was so spooky to me. Last year I received the DVD as a gift and finally saw the ending ... wow, how LAME.
OK so the priest finds a little statue containing an evil spirit in the desert and that's where the evil spirit that makes the little girl puke green pea soup comes from. I don't know why it's scary. It just is. I mean her head turned all the way around. Why do people always make fun of my movies?! lol.

Dawn of the Dead and 28 days later. Both good. Also, House on Haunted Hill or something like that. Creepy. OHHH you know what really scared me which people thought was really stupid (so i know you all will agree with the other people) is Jeepers Creepers and The Grudge and The Descent. Wow. I need to get a life lol.

Those were some speedy zombies. The Grudge and the Descent were both good too. I think I liked Jeepers Creepers 2 better though.

No way!! That old truck coming after those people. O M G! The first was so much better. Speedy zombies are scarier then slow ones.

I'm not really into horror films, for the most part, but I love thrillers. One you have to check out is Wait Until Dark with Audrey Hepburn. I still jump off the couch when that guy leaps.... just see it!

Dude, the one that always gets me (and is such a cliche) is The Exorist. Yup. Scary pea soup scenes freak me out. Silver Bullet is another classic. Dude, totally thought Thirteen Ghosts was scary. Any scary movies tend to freak me out alittle. I guess I'm a little insane since I just keep watching them.
Silver Bullet - that was a great flick! Did you ever read the illustrated novella _Cycle of the Werewolf_ upon which the moviewas based? That freaked me out even more. Man, I haven't seen either of those in forever.

I have to agree with ThePriestess, though - The Exorcist was kind of weak. I watched it with some friends, and we did the whole MST3K thing to it - laughed ourselves silly. Of course, I did that same thing with The Exorcism of Emily Rose.. and, that night when I went home, I had one of the worst "supernatural scary" experiences of my life. I couldn't sleep for an entire day, and was only able to finallyrest when Iconvinced a friend to stay at my place the next night (she seemed to think it was some come-on to get her in bedwith me until she saw the bags under my eyes). I stopped watching horror films for a while after that.

That I enjoy? Any of the old Vincent Price movies, especially those adapted from Poe. Those weren't really scary, though - just fun. Then there are the comedies like _The Ghost and Mr. Chicken_ that I love.

More modern flicks.. I can't recall any off the top of my head. An American Werewolf in London and Army of Darkness were both enjoyable, but they weren't scary. Oh, wait - the freakin' Child's Play series with the killer doll. That thing scared me silly when I was a kid.
RC_Cinci...

You probably know this already, but WITCHFINDER GENERAL, a Vincent Price film from 1968, is now available on DVD. It was directed by (the late) Michael Reeves. The picture's release title in the USA was "The Conqueror Worm" to capitalize on the Edgar Allen Poe series that Vincent didfor (and with)producer/director, Roger Corman.

For The Priestess...

I think most of the Stephen King film adaptations are pretty LAME...if you don't mind me using your term?

THE EXORCIST looks terribly out-of-date after more than 30 years.

WATCHER IN THE WOODS? I think it was Disney's opportunity to take advantage a great star (Bette Davis) during a time when her career was on the slide...!

Oh no...You're losing it Katie. JC2 was much better. The dude in JC1 was just too stupid to make it watchable. And what a whiner !!! The truck did add suspense though.
