I actually liked The Longest Yard remake. Haven't seen the original though, so I can't compare the 2.

I hear The Crow (Brandon Lee) is getting the remake treatment now.

i guess some executives have no shame.

On the other hand, Aliens is moving closer and closer to what I believe will actually be a sequel rather than a remake (Sigourney and Ridley again too). And Robert Rodriguez with his Troublemaker Studios will be producing a new Predator movie. Not that either franchise should be or needs to be touched, BUT these actually have potential it seems.

One remake I'd love to see is the Shawshank Redemption, with Danny Glover as Red and Shia Lebouef as Andy. I remember hearing someone ask what SR would be like with Danny instead of Morgan, and I'd love to see it play out for real.

Anyone else think of classic movies and how they'd do with a different cast? I always like to think after watching a movie how it might have been received with a different crew acting it.

I'm sorry. I have to whole-heartedly disagree with that. Shawshank does not need to be remade.

They should also leave the old classics alone. Someone said Gone with the Wind. I would have to add Wizard of Oz, The Philadelphia Story, Casablanca... Anything by Hitchcock. I know It's a Wonderful Life has already been remade to death, but they just need to stop that, too!

Oh, and I actually liked The Shining mini-series. It was much truer to the book. Stephen King's books are often too detailed to make a good two hour movie.

Has anyone seen both Sabrinas? Perfect example of why remakes of classic movies don't work very often. The new one just didn't have the same charm.

On the other hand Ocean's Eleven is a remake of a 1960s rat pack film....

I also have to disagree. Danny Glover and Shia Lebouef don't have anywhere near the screen presence that Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins have. Loved the movie as is. A remake would be a mistake.

I meant it as mostly a joke, because I know Danny couldn't hld a match to Morgan, same with Shia. I probably should have mentioned that first, what movies would you like to see recasted as a joke?
