Lately, I have been having rather a lot of headaches. Rather to my surprise, a few times now I've found that the headaches have disappeared when I go and spend about 30 minutes pottering around in my garden.

Has anyone else found this?

Probably just takes your mind off the headache until it goes away.

I used to get headaches and traced it to two things - dehydration (when I woke up in the morning with one, so now I keep a glass of water on the night stand) and aspartame (it also makes my toes numb). I'm not much of a soda drinker, let alone diet, and it took me a little while to trace this one to sugarless mints.

Not sure what being outside would address specifically - I would look at anything I was doing inside (painting? cleaning? anything that would lead to chemicals in the air), but in absence of that maybe being outside just makes you feel good

I'm pretty sure I've read that exercise helps end most types of headaches. And, as mentioned, dehydration. It's dehydration that causes most of the problems with hangovers. I keep a bottle of Gatorade in my fridge just for this purpose. I get migraines (few and far between lately, thankfully) but regular headaches can undo me as much. The first thing I do is chug 4oz of Gatorade, then start sipping water. Usually that makes the headache go away. But I also have recognized that getting my heart rate up helps headaches disappear, too. Who knows, if puttering in your garden works, that's awesome!

Thanks for your responses. Dehydration isn't the cause, I like water and drink a lot of it.

After I nearly fell over in the shower this morning (dizziness), I went to my GP this afternoon and he thinks the headaches may be due to some vitamin deficiency. I reckon it was the record as to how many vials of blood the pathology nurse took away!

I get headaches occasionally and don't take pain killers unless it's really debilitating, i do find that if i pull up an episode of Big Bang Theory and spend half an hour laughing at that then the headache tends to go away.

Once your doctor gets the reports and you have an answer ask your GP to explain the findings. It is quite fascinating.
Were you ever checked out by your GP after that spider bite of yours a while back?
If not your GP may be able to add another test to the labs already drawn. Could be another possible explanation.

ROFL! Yeah, Sheldon is hilarious. I ban myself from eating if that's on the telly, I've nearly choked a few times now!

Thanks bluejeanz, I didn't get the bite checked out at the time (there are so many bugs here, I am used to being bitten by something!) and it has healed nicely, not even a scar! It does ache sometimes though (like last week when it snapped back to winter instead of spring weather). I'll call my GP tomorrow and let him know.

I hope one day soon they have an episode where Sheldon and his not-girlfriend wake up in bed together not knowing if they had sex, until Leonard points them towards the Youtube link for a John and Yoko style interview that Wolowitz put up after dosing them with an experimental drug stolen from Raj.

Hey, i can film that one in my head...
