Anyone had a bone scan where they inject radioactive tracers into your blood, you wait 4 hours and then go have the bone scan?

I'm curious about the procedure-checked it online and got only dry medical facts. I want to know if the dye/tracers are painful when injected, how long it stays in your system or any other info someone who has had this can tell me.

Having it done on Dec 24. So for xmas I get to glow in the dark? Just put me in the yard and decorate me!

well they moved the bone scan up a couple of days! Had an opening and since there isn't any prep necessary I just went in when they called.

It was quite interesting to see the radioactive dye inserted by IV-only my legs were under the scanner so I could watch it as it wend down to my feet. This first test is to see if there is any difference in circulation between the 2 legs-and I couldn't see any.

A few hours later, I went back for the actual bone scan. Noting for me to see with this, though it did take about an hour and a half to do all the different angles.

I'll get the read out on it next week-this is how my best friend was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer last summer. Her bone scan showed some questionable items and she went back in for some surgery to take small bits of bone-they found breast cancer, did a closer scan at her breasts and found lobular breast cancer, which does not show up in mammograms or self exams.

It was a real shock for her (and all of us) so I admit to a bit of stress about this scan.
