How do I write to E-harmony to encourage the company to lower prices to attract non-paying members?

Seriously, I study economics. Clearly there is a demand for this service but because E-harmony has a monopoly over it, the supply has been limited and in effect causing the price to be above optimal.

If only E-harmony lowered the price, more people would subscribe and we wouldn't have these outrageous experiences with non-paying members. Ultimately, E-harmony would make more money because more members would subscribe.

Of course my letter to them or e-mail would contain a much more detailed analysis but really how do I contact the right person to get prices reduced to encourage non-paying members to subscribe?

Oh shoot Tweet, I accidentally pressed the report button instead of the quote button but I did press the back button really quickly so hopefully nothing comes of it. Sorry!

lol about your comment! But getting back to your comment. I'm serious! If I'm going to be invested in something I want to make sure I can do something proactive to make it the best investment possible. I'm not a big believer in social change or anything like that. However, I would like for more non-paying members to see that e-harmony is a cost-effective worthy investment to where it matches their willingness to pay. I guess I'm just naive and an idealist.

Justme, my personal opinion on the price of eH vs other sites is that it is very much in line with those other site's rates.

easy fix- as more people start using the free sites, EH will have to lower its prices eventually- too many members complain about being matched with non-paying members.

In a sense they do; they have a patented matching system. Patents, always create monopolies. Their only real competitor in this specific, specialized market is Chemisty.

While there are other online dating sites like Match or Plenty of Fish. It's the patented matching system that makes E-harmony a unique and specialized market in it of itself.

I can elaborate if you would like Priestess.

They may have a "monopoly" over the use of their patented "matching system" but the existence of a patent does not imply the system is any better or worse than alternatives, only that they're exclusive in their implementation.

Personally, I think OKC has demonstrated much more useful information by diverging from theory and instead focusing on the reality. Social interaction is too complex.

As for eH's pricing ... I've heard a range of $9.95/mo to $59.95/mo depending on the use of promotions. They're always sending me mail informing me it's my "last chance" to take advantage of their very special offer ... then a week later they start a new one :P

And yet I still don't bite.

You could look at the pricing in several ways ... a larger fee might tend towards eliminating those who aren't genuinely interested in the service. I expect the free sites contain a lot of profiles created by people whom were simply curious or just looking.

Also, there's some belief ... and it does have "some" basis ... that higher-priced goods and services are of higher quality. Whether they actually are, and whether the additional quality justifies the higher fee, is a matter for the consumer to consider.

That said, I do think some of the pricing offered by eH is insane, considering the costs involved (nearly nothing for them).
