here is the text of an email i sent to EH this afternoon. anyone else experience anything like this?

When I first enrolled, I set my matches to "anywhere in the world" figuring that I wanted to cast a broad net. However, I was overwhelmed with matches. I did get quite a few from my area but most were from far, far away.

So I restricted my geographical criterion to only a few states: Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Utah. Since I have done that I have gotten ONE match in my chosen area. But today I did get matches from Germany and North Carolina!

I got more matches from the Seattle area when my matching was set to "
anywhere in the world." Why am I now not getting matches in the areas that I'd like? Is there a glitch? Is there anyway to rectify the situation?

anybody here on eha have any ideas, suggestions or input?

Maybe they had their distance set to anywhere in the world and are willing to move.

It doesn't make sense that he would get a reduction in the absolute number of local matches (other than random fluctuation in incoming matches.)

that was what got my attention. EH did respond very promptly with an explanation- although i am not sure i am buying it. i really think the distance filter is messed up when picking specific states.

i'll give it a week or two and then may just go back to "any where in the world" and close out those that are too far away.

THANKS!
