I ran into that recently, too. Had my comments all written out, then it said I had to join the group to comment. By the time I clicked "Join Group" I lost my comments!

That's pretty standard across social groups online -- sorry -- if we are not being clear about that on the page we can look at placing something there.

k9force, your comment SHOULD have been saved and posted after your joined but it sounds like that is not the case. I'll ask our QA person to test it and make sure it's working but hopefully it was just a glitch. I am sorry it happened to you though

One thing I've learned through experience of posting too many long posts is that copy and paste are your friends .

What I do before ever hitting the "Submit Reply" button is press Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+C. That way if my internet dies, the submit button wants me to log back on, my browser crashes, or really anything short of a power outage I can just create a "new" post and Ctrl+V it back into existence. It's sort of like hitting Ctrl+S periodically while writing a term paper. You lose a couple pages of hard work and you get a bit paranoid =).

Cookies get lost. I've yet to use an internet forum where losing your post by hitting "Submit" is not a risk. Most of the it will be saved and you can try again or even pressing "Back" on your browser will go right to your fully written post. Most of the time, however, you'll be treated to a brand new empty text box and a whole lot of irritation .

Just a little trick to beat the system. If you're really paranoid about it you can type posts in notepad or another text editor so you can save them while you type. I don't do that and some people who do seem to get extra smilies when copying their post back.

Hope that helps and sorry that you lost your post!

Jacquesne
