I'm a California native, single mom of an amazing 14 year old and currently single. I have a natural tendency for being talkative and open minded. While not on the internet chatting it up with all my friend on eHarmony Advice, you can catch me in the kitchen cooking cookies, scones and lasagna or target shooting with my guy friends. I love sushi and sashimi, chocolate (with hazelnuts), reading fiction and watching PBS classics.

About Me. [I am/Anglo-Australian is] a 41 year old horticulturist from Perth, Western Australia. [I have/ He has] enjoyed many long hours wandering in the fields of eHarmony Advice, Having seen the wastelands of other on-line forums where the weeds grow wild (such as Face Book) and the jungle of blog organizations where new and strange plants struggle towards the light, the well-tended meadows and woods here provide such a relaxing vista. Oh, and no-one asks for eggs, which is a blessing.

Having enjoyed the pleasures of eHarmony for six months, a spot of light grounds-keeping seems no more than fair.

The photo you see is one of the reasons I live on Maui. I moved here six years ago after my divorce. I have traveled to many places but none compare to Maui. I can go to the beach or hike in the mountains. There are several climates here as well. I am in the process of opening myself up to dating again after many years of working on myself. I am quite happy being single and would not be in a relationship again unless it was very right (for me and her). I am an INTJ on the Myers-Briggs test. What they say about INTJ's is very true for me. I care very much about people, but they can overwhelm me at times too and I need to retreat and have some quiet time. I am in the process of finding out where I can fit in and do some volunteer work. My real job is what I call a Master Handyman. I work for high end clients (who are great by the way) and do everything for them (carpentry, electrical, light plumbing, AV systems, and computers. I call myself a Master Handyman because a Hollywood director referred to me as that when introducing me to a record producer (no names...that's part of the job). Right now I am managing two condo renovations. I love learning about things and am kind of geeky, but overall I live a simple life. Oh and last but not least...God is very important in my life....

brneyedangel

Brneyedangel just began her 16th year of teaching. She works in career technical education as an English and Applied Communications instructor with students who are in 12th grade, and she is also a curriculum specialist. In her free time, she enjoys singing, reading, writing, hiking, and traveling. The most common question brneyedangel is asked about herself here at eHA is the story behind her screen name. The “brneyed” part obviously comes from her brown eyes, and the angel part comes from her grandmother, who used to always call her what sounded like “aingie” when she was a child. When she finally asked her grandmother what that meant, it was discovered that her grandma was actually saying “angel,” but her thick Hungarian accent made it difficult to understand. Ironically, her other grandmother always gave her angel related items—small statues, magnets, and artwork. Since she was very close to both of her grandmothers, it just seemed to fit nicely to round out her screen name!

At first, I was content to just read what people had to say, but slowly but surely, the forums dragged me into giving out advice. I find myself in a unique position because I can honestly say that I've felt both failure and success from Eharmony and feel that I have much to offer those who see only one side or the other. Now, I've taken the next step and offered to step up as a volunteer. So here I am.

Ack! I’ve been here so long that they gave me a job!

I am a technical writer by trade, a vocation that requires me to debate sensibly with people far more intelligent than myself. Moderate success in this has, in turn, given me some delusions of grandeur about my own perceptions and ability to convey those perceptions persuasively. I try to use my powers for good, not evil, but I am a cheeky monkey by nature and much inclined to harmless naughtiness.

I have an extensive dating history which includes making most mistakes that are possible to make at least once, and some several times, either because they were fun or I was stupid. Opinions vary. I am currently on a dating hiatus, but still find the topic of relationships fascinating.

I also have a great deal of respect and affection for this community and the people in it. I’m looking forward to serving the community as a VCL.

When not posting here, I can be found, usually in my pajamas, working through the ever-growing stack of books in my personal library, watching odd movies, and visiting with all the wonderful people I’ve accumulated over the years.

G'day, I'm Meri, I live in - as we locals call it - the Lucky Country. Down Under. I work in the Telecommunications Industry, I manage six portfolios (departments), mostly do with Allocation and all stages of Lifecycle Management. My work is interesting and requires great attention to detail. I am, but by no means limited by, the following: someone who enjoys cooking, art, museums, history, reading, writing, canoeing, bushwalking, I'm a Christian, I have two adorable little furballs (one bites!), love cricket and National Rugby League. Life is generally good. With the odd pot-hole which turns out to be a six-footer!

newbie40something

My avatar screen name is Newbie40something, but I have been around since October, 2009.

I stumbled across EHA, started reading some of the threads and posts and decided to start posting regularly myself. I have started some threads and received great advice. I think that some of us that just get back into the dating scene may seem kind of alone in some of our insecurities, questions and concerns. I am a 49 year old woman (as of 7/20), divorced for close to a year. I was married for 20 years. I have two children. My daughter will be 18 next month and my son just turned 25. I feel honored to be selected as a VCL and hope I can assist, offer some thoughtful posts and provide some humor where it is appropriate. And of course, looking forward to receiving great advice and support from all of you, as well.

So a little about me...
I grew up in Los Angeles, CA and currently reside in Orange County. I have done IT work for more than a decade and plan on continuing.

Stumbled across the eH forums a long time ago and since then, have read a lot and posted frequently. I think posting on these forums helps not only those seeking advice, but also those giving it. Writing my opinion on dating has helped me figure out what I really want out of dating, and what my approach to it is.

I came to EHA looking for info about how EHarmony works ... and it turned out to be so much more than just that! I enjoy it: all the personalities, the friends, the deep topics and the silliness, even the frictions. I've learned a few things ... more than a few actually. I think my mind and heart are more open and in better shape for having come here.

My photo is of a drawing I did of a very difficult dog I had, a rescue, aggressive, with a sweet heart. I love art; I retired early (software engineering and part-time body-oriented therapy practice) to draw. I'd really like to start doing digital drawing ... am saving up for the equipment. I'm 55, single, living in my hometown Los Angeles. I like: art, animals, men, women, open spaces, the Dodgers, relationships, gardening, books, music, driving, and good weather. This is starting to feel like an online profile!

I’ve been smurfed!

I’ve been many things over my short thirty years on this earth, and dabbled in much more than I ever expected, even in my ambitious nine-year-old years. A curious nature and a penchant for going just one more mile, reading just one more chapter, or staying up just one hour later has given me a rich hoard of memories and more than a few scars. This gamboling life experience has given me delusions of grandeur, such that I sometimes think I might have some wisdom to impart to various unknown persons on the internet…

As for dating experience, I cannot say that I’ve quite made *every* dating mistake imaginable, but I have made quite a few in my time (with results ranging from hilarity to “dang, that had to *hurt* ” ). I’ve been lucky enough to have some wonderful and fulfilling relationships, though, and if I can ever figure out what I did *right* I’ll be sure to share the goods, for whatever that is worth. *grin*

As for this blue business, I expect what you see and hear from me will be much the same. With the occasional “topic? I know there was a topic here somewhere…” *grin* Y’all are good people. I’m sure we’ll do just fine.
