What are the goals and commitments of the USA?
What should they be? Is that a Constitutional thing or should the tea party draft some document stating what our goals should be.

I wish the goals of the USA were completely removed from those of the upper 1%, but sadly enough, they are one in the same, procuring funds for that mega yacht and villa in teh Caymens.

Seriously though, is it possible to pry our democracy away from it's current status of "capitalist plutocracy", or are we so far down the rabbit hole at this point that there's no coming out? I want to believe all the great things about American accomplishment aren't going to be forever tarnished by the actions of a few, but it will take real commitment by all, to right the wrongs. I believe the apathetic lower class deserves as much blame as robber barons on top of the heap, if we're going to change anything we'll have to put down our cans of Budweiser, turn off Nascar, and get off our soap boxes. Action people, not words. (chuckles at his own hypocrisy as he checks the score of the Saints\Vikings NFC Championship game.)

What are our priorities? I can't tell, my head's buried in the sand next to the rest of you fast talking ostriches. =)

Can you express that as a goal?... is it some version of equality?... a Constitutional limit on business growth? However you want it.

You sound smart...maybe you can help me. (smiles) I'm afraid I lack the political, and socio-economic expertise, to line things out in a more, 'House bill #____ 'type format. I wish I was a little better educated in these matters. I don't have a solid understanding of....how would you say....geo-political realtionships with big business. I do however, have open eyes, and what I see, is a good idea...(capitalism) that has mutated beyond control, and beyond reason. If you're the CEO of G.E. please disregard my comments, as they are merely the whining of an annoying child. If not, perhaps you could give me some hopeful insight. I read a book about a year ago by Fareed Zakaria, called the Post American World, I liked this book, it made me feel as if there was light at the end of the tunnel, and that we, as American capitalists, have done great things with our adept and industrious approach, and have brought other nations fantastic ideas about how to lift themselves out of poverty and join the global free market.
I didn't mean to sound the trumpet charge on a corporate witch hunt, led by someone who doesn't know sh** from shynola about the subject matter. (me) lol However, I fear that America's goals are to feed the Frankenstein's monster that we created by removing ourselves from the gold standard, and trusting too much in 'Uncle Milty' i.e.Milton Friedman, arguably, the godfather of modern capitalism. It seem that when you remove the fail safes, and allow the market to become 'wild' the result is the same with frightening regularity. Collapse. When I mentioned being to far down the rabbit hole, I meant that I fear that we are committed so deeply, so completely into feeding the monkey, that there is no going back. Corporate domination of the three branches is increasing exponentially, and to remove it from ourselves would be the equivelant of remove a junkie from his needle. People don't want to do this, from a guy like me, who whines and cries about high prices at the pump, to a CEO who whines and cries when his daily profit margin dips below 900 percent. Is there a happy medium? Can we get there from here without creating a cataclysmic failure of both business and government? I'd like to believe we can, but I know we can't make the proverbial omelette without breaking a few eggs. (Eggs of course being the poor)

So, I guess I don't have any 'silver bullets' or magic beans, but I am critical of a system that I believe exists to purchase Gulfstream V's for the white men that rule the world club. (Don't get me wrong, that's a hell of a nice airplane) lol.

I agree...I *DO* sound smart! And I wish my actual smartness matched that.

Lots of average people actually try to learn to write good.

"Corporate domination of the three branches is increasing exponentially, and to remove it from ourselves would be the equivelant of remove a junkie from his needle."

Ok, let me go with this.

Tell me why if corporate america is so strong and so many CEOs are making far too much ... right??.. well why can't those folks control government and have the personal income tax be flat?

60% of the Fed's income comes from the top 1-2%... ok.. why?... why would these amazing strong corp folks who run government want that?

Corporate America.. how terrible.. drug companies make far too much ... (but would you prefer these fantastic drugs not exist?).

It's not fair... you just can't have all good and no bad... you can't... the more dates you go on the more you'll be hurt.

These responses are tricks, right? casually throwing out a couple of classic logical fallacies....Trying to call my bluff...see if there's any bite to my bark...you are clever. =)

I'm not at all suggesting that Corporations haven't brought anything to the table. They pump their dollars into the system by the hundreds of millions, and want to make fifty cents on the dollar. This isn't vile, or evil in and of itself....but it has gotten out of control, surely we can agree on that.

Again, I wish I was more prepared to defend my convictions with hard facts, and not biased speculation and rhetoric. Call it a gut feeling...America's interests are Corporate America's interests. It could be argued that instead of shouting profanity from the sidelines, I should get in the game and mix it up with the big dogs, see how it works by walking a day in a multi-national's moccasins...unfortunately I left my eleven figures in my other pants. Alright, getting off the point now....

I would definitely not prefer that we 'un-discover' penicillin, but pharmecueticals are hardly the white knight of the group. Having all good and no bad is nearly an impossibility when you talk about most things, and but it's not as simple as that with this subject matter.
I understand that for there to be a winner, there is undoubtedly a loser, but I get a sour taste in my mouth when the winner sacrifices so little, and the loser is buried in Arlington National Cemetery for trying to defend the winner's "interests."

It could be argued that the soldier's interests are one in the same with America's interests, but it's not enough for me to say well, sorry kiddo, who said life was fair...now watch this drive.
