One of my fellow classmates said I was the most intimidating woman he ever met. I laughed and said why would you say that. He said because you know things that normal people don't. Err thanks.

To answer the question, I don't consider myself intimidating.

There was someone else who posted about their appearance not being what is expected of an intelligent person. Yeah I get that a lot. Then you open your mouth.

handsomeItalian- I've only been told I'm intimidating when I actually wield my intellect as a weapon against someone I'm trying to intimidate. This is rare. Otherwise, I pretend that I'm intimidating all my matches, rather than dwelling in the more probable scenario: They're just not that into me.

Well, I suppose that kinda depends on what the rest of the "body language" is "saying" along with it...
What should " BODY LANGUAGE" be saying? , or ? What if I'm just trying to get to know someone BETTER?
I find that someone who lacks TACT can be intimidating. How do you teach TACT? Suzie

Though obviously harder to convey in print, I think our posts can sometimes be compared to mis-matches between "body language", and our supposed intent.

So for example, even when the "content" of whatever someone's saying here may really be not so "intense", things like lotsa "emoticons" , or , or , all questions (???), and ALL CAPS, might be conveying something totally different than the writer really intended (or maybe not)....

Although dunno about "teaching tact", but I imagine it would probably even more difficult to do if I were dealing with someone who might seem a bit more, um, "volatile". Of course I'm always open to suggestions!

Oh yeah, trying to fit other's "expectations" is definitely a pretty losing proposition!

I like to pretend they're just too stupid or shallow to appreciate me.

Hi Handsome!

Now, see ... I initiated, and the guy seems to have fled, never been back. Note to self: do not initiate with men. They find it intimidating.

Yeah I pointed that out. Then he was all sputtering and such so I let him be before he passed out or something. I think his point was in classes I can site, for instance, IRS code down to the subsection off the top of my head and if needed the regs. Most people don't retain this stuff. I am great fun at parties. :S

Okay so I was at a bar and my date went to the bathroom. So dude from a well known investment company starts chatting with me. Oh he was wearing his name tag. S'anyway he asks what I do and I said business. He said wow my secretary is no where near as pretty as you. I said my secretary is pretty homely too and I think she is getting senile. He, while pulling his foot out of his mouth, said what do you do, I am an accountant.

I go out of my way not to intimidate unless it is necessary. Somehow this makes me a secretary. Who knew?
