Do you like to get just the facts when you listen to the news or do you prefer to get your news through commentary from a certain perspective?

Personally I like to get just the facts. I'll decide for myself how I want to think about them.

Knowing how other people think is just too disturbing...

Well... from "fair and balanced" FOX News of course!

I actually keep up on current events through the group.

I get news from pretty much everywhere. If I don't read it or watch it, then I follow it on the internet.

I like both "facts" and commentary. I even like commentary from positions that I don't necessarily agree with. Maybe I've read too much Chomsky, but I think that the presentation of "fact" has a certain coloration to it. To get to the truth I think you need to sort through as many sources as possible, and pay very close attention to the "hidden agendas".

it doesn't matter where you get your news, you will always get some bias. even if you think you are just getting "just the facts" bias determines just what "facts" get reported.

my information comes mainly through:

the new york times,
the economist,
national public radio,
internet

as a conservative, i find rush revolting and sean irritating in the extreme. i do not own a tv but if i did would not watch the news. i find tv news to be sensationalistic and superficial- whether it be fox or cnn.. if there is not a "great" video to run with the reporting- it will not get reported. conversely, if there is video- it will be reported, news or not.

Obama's Peace Prize really blew the "just the facts" reporters out of the water. I think even the ones who pride themselves on being objective had to express an opinion on this surprise.

I get most of my news from my Yahoo page, which is probably based on AP releases, then I check the local tv stations. I rarely watch network news, and avoid cable news like the plague (it raises my blood pressure to dangerous levels!).

I subscribe to the Economist and occasionally pick up a local paper.
