O.K. so it wasn't exactly an invasion by the United States... More like Wisconsin... O.K. maybe not exactly Wisconsin... more like DennisWisconsin... Sunday travel took me to London, Ontario where they don't exactly appreciate my sophisticated wit and charm... This can only help my bad boy image as one of a small crowd of people who can say that they've been kicked out of a country... namely Canada.

I thought we anexed Canada back in the Reagan Administration... anyway... so they repelled me at the border becaused my 'documents' weren't in 'order.'

They changed the rules at some point in the game and forgot to tell ole DennisWisconsin... but fear ye not... We will counter attack in the morning... with ummm... hopefully the correct documentation... ana... hey?

DennisWisconsin update... because 16 people worldwide care...

And now the news...

DennisWisconsin spent a day in Detroit's Metropolitan airport waiting for news to enter Canada.... The application for a work visa resulted in a response from the Canadian government for DennisWisconsin's salary?

Salary...O.K. So DennisWisconsin's 4 day (now potentially shortened to 3 day) day visit to Canada and its potential impact on the Canadian economy could be measured by how much DennisWisconsin's hauls in every week... because he is such a highly paid, respected and... did I say higfhly paid and respeccted American professional... type... ummm... professional...

More developments later... as they develop... hey....

I've been detained getting into the US (from Canada), but I've found it easier to get in than back out.

Maybe they like me?

Of course I tease our good neighbors to the north and they know it's all in good humor... they tease me about being American... Of which I have no excuse...

I eventually made it into Canada but I didn't try the syrup.... I come from a huge maple syrup state (Wisconsin) so it has to be good... My grandparents collected maple syrup...

Did you bring back any Cubans?

(Cigars, that is...)

I used to cross about once or twice a year when I was driving over the road. I've been to Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and that wierd French-speaking place (They call it Kee-beck...)

We could usually clear inbound (Canadian) customs in about 30 mins if the brokers had all the paperwork faxed there before we'd arrive. Coming back, we were usually empty, so we didn't have to clear US customs.

The very last time I went, I brought back 3 boxes of Cubans (stashed in my laundry duffle bag, under the bunk in the back of the truck...), and gave away a few of them to some of my fellow cigar aficionados.

All I could think (while the truck was being scanned by the new high-tech drive-through thingy) was what kind of story I could tell guy if they found them. So, to ease their sense of whether or not we actually looked like terrorists, we just kept the pleasant conversation going and cracked an occasional joke.

Breezed right on through. You know, those upstate New Yorkers are quite alright.
