Do you know of any organized religion that preaches against the Golden rule? When it comes down to how we are expected/exorted to behave, does it not just boil down to the Golden Rule, albeit in many guises?

If I follow the golden rule, am I following the basic precept of most religions?

It sounds like such a wonderful platitude until you put it into the suicide bomber context - they're not doing anything to others that they wouldn't do to themselves...

I don't know of any religions that speak against the golden rule but it seems like some native american shaminism might see the world and how to act in it a little different than some other religions. It has been ages since I have read anything though so i couldn't be more specific right now.

Author Robert Wright thinks the crises the human species now faces are moral in nature, and that our salvation lies in the intelligent pursuit of self-interest. In his book Nonzero, Wright argues that life depends on a non-zero-sum dynamic. While a zero-sum game depends on a winner and loser, all parties in a non-zero-sum game win or lose together, so players will more likely survive if they cooperate.

I think the only thing left out is a god.

If one is a proponent of a religion, there is nearly always a deity or deities that must be honored.

Being good (the Golden Rule) is not sufficient without worship. But worship without moral behavior (the Golde rule again) is insufficeint also.

That is where the suicide bomber comes in. In his religion, worship exceeds all else, and supplants all morality and self preservation.

Not just religions but moral codes (because being (conventionally) selfish would be an amoral code.)

I don't know any religions that would take the premise that god is evil since the nature of religion is to be validated as worthy. There are religions that DO evil but their premise is that they're good and you're evil. Hitler didn't think he was evil (which is why very evil people can't be redeemed... there's no way to prove to them that they're completely wrong any more than one can disprove a conspiracy...any evidence presented is just part of the conspiracy.)
