if pies are for throwing... then cake is for eating...
What is your favorite?
Is frosting an asset or just for decoration?

Chocolate cake with thick fudgy frosting or white powdered sugar frosting -- definitely an asset! My mom used to make a salad dressing cake. Sounds gross but very moist and delicious (not for throwing!). It's a Depression-era recipe when eggs were rationed. Yum!

P.S. Pudding works great for throwing. I flung some at my brother with a spoon many moons ago. I hit the wall instead. Oops.

I have a Jewish Apple Cake recipe (funny enough, that I got it from a Quaker) that is to die for. And, this is the second time I’ve thought about it in less than a month, so I’m thinking this just might be the holiday ‘cake’ year. I usually do a Sweet Potato Pie (TP, not good for throwing) for the holidays.

Frosting is not a requirement. But it sure does help.

Mmmmm...Pumpkin cake, with or without cream cheese frosting. I like it without with a cup of coffee. Very moist and even people who don't normally like pumpkin, like to eat this cake.

Wow! There's so many! To name a few: Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting, Italian Cream Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting, the chocolate cake recipe & frosting that's on the back of (some) Hershey's cocoa tins, German Chocolate Cake with the Coconut-Pecan Frosting & Devil's Food cake with Seven Minute (or Never Fail) Frosting. And yes! Frosting IS required!
