Spice or Chocolate cake, frosting is optional, but makes it better.

Frosting, while not lawfully required, is a tasty addition to any cake.

In the alternative, like Kibbie's now famous rum cake, a drizzle of booze will suffice.

I saved the rum cake until Michigan and split it with CCM (minus the one tasty bite I had) on my first night here.

Did CCM like it?

Black forest is my favorite. I also have a strange weakness for the cherry chip kind that comes in a box, as awful as that may sound.

I'm liking the beefcake idea, too. I'll take mine with frosting.

Or maybe I could just throw a black forest cake at him and then I get the best of both worlds.....

I made a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting for the fiance's birthday earlier this week, and it is yummy.

I also love making red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. And last month, I made an apple caramel spice upside down cake....it was fabulous!! It's a "from scratch" cake, but simple: it's just made in a square pan. Yum!
