(2) The ones who make a 5-minute announcement at the beginning of the service, and then complain that it ran 5 minutes over;
I'm sorry. How about next week I skip the service altogether so you have more time for your announcement AND you can get home on schedule.

Oh I don't know. What day of the week does Friday usually fall on?

I get my cats to walk on my computer keyboard. I simply read what they type.

(1) The ones who want to cut your salary $600 below the bishop's recommended minimum "to save money" (despite the fact that the church has over $180,000 in an investment portfolio, is meeting its expenses, is actively contributing to missions and charities, and is completely debt-free),
Drop in salary = drop in responsibilities. Here is a list of my current duties per month; you get to choose which two I will no longer be actioning and mind you make your suggestions prayerfully!

Excellent, excellent ... I am so glad you spoke up. You now have the Ministry of Time Management for Church Related Activities. Congratulations!

(3) The one who calls you up at dinner time 10 days before Easter to ask what day of the week the Good Friday service is on; and
The same day as it is every year: Good Friday! Did I win? Did I win?

(4) The one who asks, "who writes your sermons?" (I actually did have a slightly sarcastic answer for that one; which I'll reveal after I see yours). Surprise! That would be ME!

All of these were so good; thanks!

My actual response to the person who asked me who writes my sermons (it was the relative of a parishioner who only shows up once in a blue moon) was to squeal delightedly and say, "You mean you thought that was good enough to have been published? Thank you! You're so kind!" and then just beam at him. He'd meant to be patronizing, and he just sort of wandered off with a lost look on his face, wondering how it had turned out this way....
