OHHH I must share this.
I was having a lil procedure done that involved
A) some gas so I would be sedated not out cold
B) A surgeon who would spray some stuff down my throat to freeze it so she could then stick a tube down my throat and take a biopsy of my stomach.

Sounds fine except no gas man so no sedation. She decides to start without it and sprays stuff down my throat. i just glare at her. She says Iwow you don't have a gag refles. I say....you are the firts lady ever to say that to me!!
Everyone in the OR spilet a gut laughing except me,!!

I tell you, Bob, the problem with medical procedures is that they do them so often that the personnel usually forget they are dealing with real people. If you don't like being touched, accident or not, speak up. They need to realize that they are dealing with real people and you like to be modest.

It's like the time I got my catheter for dialysis inserted in my chest and they didn't think twice about sewing it down to my b00b. I was really ticked, even though they later told me that the stitches would be removed. They could have told me ahead of time that the stitching was only temporary. I thought I'd never be able to wear a bra again for the rest of my life. These "professionals" need to remember who they are working on. Thgey made me feel like Frankenstein's bride.

It really was not a problem ( want them to do what is necessary to get the test done and get the best results), even though I have had a number of times when the nurse would need to adjust me to check the incision sight for a heart cath, or position me to use a urinal after a heart cath where I had to keep my leg straight. I guess I just haven't lost my modesty entirely. At least the doctor told me I have no significant blockages in the legs.

That is really good news!! About no blockages that is...the rest is, unfortunately, part of the joy of being a patient. I could tell you some doozy stories from my trips to the hospital but...I don't think you want to know all of them. Just glad that the test result was positive, Bob.

It is a difficult quandary for the medical professional as well and I think everyone handles it differently.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

On a serious note, most medical folks are trained to say something along the lines of "I'm going to touch you now..." or "you're going to feel some slight pressure".

And back to some silliness, are you sure you're not just bragging that it was big enough to get in the way? Hmmm?

Now THAT is the biggest, fattest lie that was EVER conceived by a medical professional. If "slight" pressure means that your eyeballs nearly pop from their sockets and you are in so much pain that you can't even form words,...then I would HATE to find out what "major pressure" would be!!!
