I've been counting calories lately and I've noticed on the back of my chewing gum it says "less than 5 calories". My question is; am I getting 5 calories just from chewing or do I have to swallow it for the full 5 calories? If it is just from chewing do I have to get all the flavor out for the full "less than 5 calories" or do I get less for spitting it out prior to the flavor running out?
It does not specify on that pack and I cannot go on living life without this question answered!

When I cook with alcohol and the alcohol evaporates, does that mean the calories have evaporated too?

An equally good question. I would suggest to just drink the alcohol next time. Preferably AFTER you have finished cooking.

I am curious as to what Trident's response will be. I'll go see if they have a questions section on their website.

Why would you let the alcohol evaporate?

If you close your eyes while eating, it doesn't count as you can't see what you eat.

Because that's what happens when you cook with alcohol.
It has something to do with alcohol evaporating at a temperature lower than the boiling point of water.

So you're saying that since one can't see oneself chewing gum, the calories don't exist?
