I don't accept that ice forms sufficiently uniform over a 100 mile distance, concordantly #1 ought to be false.

However, there is always the possibility you have an unusual occupational opportunity, notably in the automotive engineering field, which may make this somewhat of a trick question.

None of them. If you drove a hundred miles on an inch of ice, you'd be exhausted, and would fall asleep at the wheel once you hit dry road, and while asleep you missed your turn and continued on the road for 250 miles till you woke up.
Elementary, my dear Watson. Come here.

I'm thinking it's #2 He fell asleep while driving (very common thing for truck drivers to do, that's why they changed the laws and can only drive a specific amount of time before they have to stop and sleep for at least 8 hours)

Yep - that's my guess too!

But then again, it doesn't grow cold enough here for lakes to ice over, so I don't know about that statement. Fascinating watching people on tv going ice skating out of doors though!
