So, the 2009 Perseid Meteor Shower peaks on Aug 12&13. The best time to see the shower is in the early morning. The meteors are from the Comet Swift-Tuttle. Happy star gazing!

Early Morning??? I like the late night viewings

Guess I'll jus havta get up extra early!


I love living out here in the county, I get to see bunches of Great Stuff like shootin stars an such. Its AMAZING!

Thats one thing I really miss about KY, wish I could make the money back there that I do here in the city.

You can see it all night. Heck, you don't even have to wait till 12-13, you can see it tonight. It's just that peak activity is early morning.

They should actually start around 9pm tonight, but since we're going to have a bright moon, the best time to see them will be around dawn Weds. and Thurs. mornings.

Of course your best viewing of the comet would be in about 17 years as it collides with earth.

At that point I imagine the brightness of the moon (and city lights) would be of little consequence.
