ok Im gonna throw myself into the fray here...
dons heavy armor.....
heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey!!!!!!
this is our place....
we agree to disagree and have fun and "love" each other any way....
don't we????
did I miss something?
when did we start telling " gay jokes"?
we have bandied about WORDS....
like naughty children...
we have never intentionally disrespected any group of people...
we are a VERY loving group of people...
and the chapstick????
ya know something that occurred to me that
I hope will help peeps feel better? the cherry chap stick comments?...
not meant to refer to specifically "gay" at all... originally that song "
I kissed a girl and I liked it...." not about a "gay" experience... just an experimental time... so we use it in a fun ( to us ) way just like the song did .... our cherry chapstick comments are not EVER meant to degrade gay relationships at all... anyway......

we may not like the behavior... or agree with ALL opinions...
So, we are having a LARGE LOUD family discussion about all the shiaaattt...

so, the question remains...
can we all calm down and forgive?

I have not seen any gay jokes. This is about the plethora of comments regarding being gay or lesbian, that have been bandied about freely, over the last couple of months.

we have bandied about WORDS....
like naughty children...
we have never intentionally disrespected any group of people...

I have stated multiple times, that the comments have been made "in fun." The problem is that what's fun for some, is not fun for all.

The chap stick thread, on its own, did not hurt anyone. But, it did spark all of the other comments that we now see. My point is that the comments are not funny/amusing/entertaining, to everyone here. I think we ALL have a right to express an opinion about something, that's bothering us. That's all I did.

I'm also going to weigh in on this with an opinion that I'm sure will not be universally popular.

I say this as one of the members of CSC that does not enjoy a lot of the banter that goes on here on particular topics, and I have learned from this thread that I also freely partake in discussions that others find repugnant....but I agree with some who have already posted and I do the same thing they advocate to remain a part of the group:

I ignore what I don't like within a thread.
I don't post in threads I don't like right from the OP.
I don't expect anyone to change their behavior in CSC to make me feel more comfortable.

What if I said that I find it offensive to be called a Hussy or Huzzy or however you want to spell it?

People made comments about lesbians? So what? Why are lesbians so special and different that it is not okay to talk about them? It's my opinions that when a group of people is labeled as different and needing special treatment, they are not being included with everyone else--meaning with the rest of the human race. That to me is the act that excludes them from the group as not being normal or acceptable. I believe in treating everyone as people--no one is immune from being the butt of a joke, as long is it is not hateful. I think it is a healthy sign in our society when people start talking about gays and lesbians freely--things are not being whispered in private because being a homose x ual is shameful.

Besides, the whole Cherry Chap Stick thing (as AP pointed out) is more about that Katie Parry song and to do with the male fantasy of girl on girl action. To try to censor that IMO would be a futile effort to censor the male brain.

I am not meaning to offend anyone here...but I do promise that I will continue to make some uncomfortable as I talk about things they don't like.

I boldly say all of this only because I've got my Valkyrie helmet on still.

I think this is rational and reasonable....
I am taking notes....

Until yesterday, I avoided threads that I did not wish to participate in (kind of hard to do, though, when the comments are popping up all over the place). I did that, to remain part of this group. I do not expect everyone to change their behavior. I just wanted everyone to be a little more aware. You know, like telling your friend they're doing something that makes you uncomfortable.

This thread has become far too personal. If anyone has anything else to say to me, please PM me.

I think we've all learned a valuable lesson here. Corky isn't allowed to be away from CSC so long and then come back and start a thread to find out what's being going on!
