So, I get up this morning and go do my grandmother's grocery shopping. It is interminably hot outside so I ask my grandmother (who is, for those of you who don't know, 93 and 8 months) if she wants to go out to the pool. She says of course and so she gets on her suit and I get mine on and out we go.

The water is lovely and we are enjoying ourselves. We were NOT invaded by the kids of some of the other people in the condo so we had the pool to just us. I told her I was done after about 45 minutes, worrying that she wouldn't have enough strength to get out of the pool if we stayed much longer. So I"m doing my usual hanging out behind her while she gets out and she tells me she doesn't need any help and to stop fussing over her. So I get out on the other side of the steps to get the towel for her.

... big mistake.

My grandmother slips and injures herself. I won't describe it - it was bloody and she's injured her shin and toes. I see one of the neighbors and yell up to her to call 911. My grandmother is like: I'm not going to the hospital. I just know that I can't get her out by myself at this point and I need help. 6 strappingly handsome paramedics (must be a slow day) show up. They bandage my grandmother up and help her back to the condo.

They leave and she says: "Well, we were a little bored."

I love that woman.

Oh, that's terrible! I hope she is okay now. She is 93 and still likes to get in the pool? Wow, I am impressed! Hope I can still do that when I am 93.

Gramma rocks! I'm sorry that she got all banged up, though.

My mom is 91 and went on a cruise earlier this year. After too many margaritas at a cantina in Mexico when they were docked, she tripped coming up the gangplank to get back on the ship and thwapped her face up and gave herself a black eye. She was SO embarrassed, 'cause she knew it was 'cause she was tipsy, NOT 'cause she's "feeble," LOL. The ship people drove her crazy the rest of the cruise making sure she was okay. I'm sure they were worried about a lawsuit, but SHE just wanted everybody to forget that she shouldn't have had that last margarita.
