Forbes.com published its Best Cities for Singles 2009, based on "coolness, cost of living alone, culture, job growth, online dating, and nightlife."

New York, Boston, Chicago, Seattle, Washington D.C., Atlanta, San Francisco, and Los Angeles were the top 8. (Best Cities For Singles 2009 - Yahoo! Real Estate)

"The biggest factor in the rankings this year was an increase in online dating," according to Pepper Schwartz, Ph.D. relationship expert associated with Perfectmatch.com. The Seattle-based dating site has seen a 48% increase in subscriptions year-over-year. "I don't think that it's an accident," says Schwartz. "People are telling us that when things are tough, core needs are most important. And love--someone to share your life with--is a core need."

Wow. Los Angeles ranked #2 for online dating, while the New York metro area has more active Match.com profiles than any other place in the country, making up 8% of the entire site's active members.

What do y'all think? Should we all move to New York, where an average one bedroom apartment costs $3500 per month?

Wow. Los Angeles ranked #2 for online dating, determined by the percentage of active Match.com profiles in each city of the overall active member data base.

If we all live in the SAME apartment we might could swing that. Come to think of it, that would sort of solve the whole "single" thing at the same time, now wouldn't it?

Well, I tried to visit Kibbie in Atlanta, but she refused to meet me at the airport. Just kidding.

No. The $3,200 apt requires the airline-approved 3oz toothpaste and you have to use the salad fork for your entree.
