What say you?

Are they encouraged by communication?

Should they be ignored?

Does one actually get a buzz from the attention?

Are we talking on-line stalkers here? Actual creepy in-person stalkers? Ex-I-used-to-like-you-but-now-you-freak-me-out stalkers? Or maybe they should all be handled differently. Hmmmm......

You approach quickly, and, speaking with a voice of authority, crisply but not loudly, say “I’m from a government agency, and your life is in grave danger; you’ll have to come with me to the safe house immediately.”

My thoughts are currently about online stalkers, but some of the solutions may be the same for in-person stalkers, so I don't want to put any limitations on which ones we talk about.

That is, if they are cute.
But what if they look like this?

Shug, you should approach the problem from the stalkee position. We've already seen plenty of stalkers in action... how should we handle them?

First, I snap the band on his forehead and then I run away.

Start intoning, from memory, your wedding plans?

I like to talk about my gun collection. Just offhand, casual conversation. Also, an unseemly number of men I've cared for have died. Not with any help from me, of course, but I don't necessarily have to mention that part, do I?

As in all things in life, if you know where your lines are, and what you are and aren't willing to do if they are crossed, you stand a far better chance of not being a victim in the first place.

If he is normal, he may run away.
But what if your stalker is a woman?
