So, I have to take advantage of the local weather...high today was only 92...wow, that's like a whole 10 degrees cooler than it has been, and if lucky I may even enjoy a little bit of cloud cover (30% chance of rain). Well, there were no clouds, it still felt freaking hot as hell.

So I do my 6.5 miles on paved trail to a field/park with a mountain bike (really just dirt with some logs, ditches to traverse, but it is forested and you get out of the sun). First time on a bike in a while, and I'm keeping up a good pace to the MTB..but I do kind of realize I'm going through my camelback (gatorade pouch) kind of quick. I reach the MTB course..no mishaps! It's a 7 mile course, so now I've done 13.5 miles but my Camelback is drained, and I have sweat dripping down my forehead whenever.

Starting to worry about the heat a little bit, it's 6.5 miles back to home, but I decided to take it easy. To give my back a break, I sit up put my hands at my side and just use my balance to steer the bike...but I'm starting the feel a little woozy.

Then I wondered if somebody was coming up behind me and without putting my hands back on the handlebars, I look back. My balance failed me. My left elbow took the hit and it's a little bit hamburger right now, but it could have been so much worse. Left shoulderblade has a big road grating as well. All I could think about when I was going down was how much this was going to hurt. I think I assume the fetal position when I hit...can't remember if I cried for mommy or not. I've wiped out on dirt, but a crash on pavement is just so much worse.

Anyhow, I got home okay, no broken bones, and after a quick clean up when to the pool so I could work on my horrible farmer's tan. But the clouds rolled in :-(

Dude! Seriously...this is supposed to keep you healthy?!

One more argument against heavy exercise.

Hope you heal quickly.
