(sorry for the x-post)

I Just broke up with my g/f on Wed. so, not to let things get me down, I had tonight, a Wonderful !! romantic dateless date.

Fired up the long dormant 560SEC, this evening, and drove it up to the snow country, past Donner Summit and down to Truckee (just before the border going into Reno.) Took me about an hour from my house, up through the tall pines, and mountains on a gently curving freeway...up to the 8000 foot summit, and then down a couple of thousand feet past Donner Lake...

About an hour or two prior to this, the Sierra Nevadas had been dusted with rare summer July light rain, and a GLORIOUS, vivid rainbow suddenly appeared over the tall pine trees.

It was the most striking and long lasting one I have ever seen, and I chased that rainbow for 40 miles into Truckee, where it greeted me when I drove into town, which even though I live at the other end of the County, about 80 miles away,

I had never seen such a beautiful, vivid and long lasting rainbow - ever!! It was stunning !!

The little town of Truckee, just off the freeway, has REALLY been spiffed up,.

Its historic district is now full of high class eateries, specialty stores while still retaining the old timey California Wild West feel, even the old Railroad station and classic hotels remain.

It was perfect weather too; 75* and the rain of an hour before had utterly purifed the mountain air even more, and had mostly evaporated off the streets, perfect sundress/sandals weather, you could *not* conjure anything better than this....

I was hungry, so decided to have dinner upstairs at the Dragonfly sushi bar. I have had a fair amount of sushi, being from SF, but this "Crystal Salad" with dungeness Crab and salmon, and the best wasabi I ever had in my WHOLE life was just sublime. Washed down with pineapple juice/7 Up, drink, that I like.

I sat upstairs at the window by the balcony and enjoyed the rainbow outside for company.

A perfect date. With nobody at all.

So where the H E C K were *YOU*, you hottie from EHa that should have been with me tonight, to gab and joke around with?

Dammit, I loathe having to enjoy those perfect magic moments ALONE.

grr hate it when that happens...You know what I mean?

Maybe the rainbow was a good sign though... < shrugs >

That's my kind of date! Really, it sounds fabulous!

And I'm sorry that things didn't work out with your lady friend.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and best of luck in finding that special someone!

Heather

P.S. The rainbow thing works!

Oh, Nuts! Sorry that things went that way but the drive you took sounds gorgeous. Would have loved to drive along...actually, it felt like I had. Your description was very vivid. I love looking for rainbows when rain and sun come out together and the pictures I've seen of the Sierra Nevadas are spectacular.

By the way, I know how you feel about experiencing things alone but keep your chin up. You are quite a guy and somebody has got to be there for you.

I've found sometimes, even if you are alone, you have to treat yourself to something special.

I was wandering around drinking Peach Snapps and beer until I passed out. Today I feel a little wobbly.

But I'm not sure you should be referring to me as a "hottie from eHA" ...

No ... the schnapps came late in the evening ... it was sooooooo good.

I forgot, in between, there was some wine also ... I can't remember what type ... I think it was white.
