Pity that so many "true" Americans couldn't speak proper English if they were offered a million dollars to do so. There is no official language in this country-for better or for worse depending on your take.

I have found that knowing Spanish gets me a lot of place in the
U.S.A. that English never could. ESPECIALLY in Texas!!! (Harry still loves his compañeros in El Paso, San Antonio and Waxahachie!)

Asa for what Multi posted...I will have a hard time limiting my choices to just ONE button. I resemble far too many of those options! LOL

first of all harry, lighten up!

second, when i visited france many years ago, from the people i have spoken to, their number one complaint about americans in their country was that americans expected the french to speak english.
third, i don't care what language someone speaks. a LOT of latinos are bilingual. a LOT of them speak english better then "americans" do.

fourth, you prolly had to learn spanish because the latinos you're dealing with do not speak english. knowing the names of a few dishes off a mexican restaurant menu does not constitute 'speaking a foreign language'.

finally, why don't they say "press 3 for canadian" or "press 4 for british-english" or "press 5 for japanese" etc? latinos aren't the only minority group in this country that can't speak english.

As they say, when in Rome...

Duly noted and advised. You just hit a button of mine. My overreaction.

Actually, Spanish was a language that I chose to learn. It was one of the best decisions that I ever made-AND it enabled me to establish a secure career. I owe much to the language and the people that I have met who speak the language.

Very true, but Spanish is the predominant, non-English language spoken in the United States of America. Besides that, Latinos make up a major portion of consumers nowadays. Soon Latinos may be THE dominant market group. As such, it makes sense as to why so many business-related things are now bilingual (English and Spanish).
