Ok, so it's summer time and I'm looking to make something kind of summer-y as a dessert, so I thought I'd go for some dessert dumplings. I have strawberries and blackberries on hand. I've had two ideas for each kind of fruit and I'd like to know what y'all think sounds tastier. If you have a better idea, then please throw that out there as well.

Strawberry dumpling #1 - Strawberry compote filling, balsamic flavored dumpling, rolled in turbinado sugar.
Strawberry dumpling #2 - Strawberry compote filling, cocoa flavored dumpling, rolled in dark chocolate shavings.

Blackberry dumpling #1 - whole blackberry filling, vanilla flavored dumpling, rolled in white chocolate shavings
Blackberry dumpling #2 - macerated blackberries w/ some gelatin, lemon flavored dumpling, dusted in powdered sugar.

I guess I could make some with blueberries. Hmmm, blueberry filling and lavender syrup topping? I have no idea there.

Since I don't care for blackberries or strawberries I'll stay out of line until you come up with something using cherries or apples...

chocolate overwhelms strawberries in my book. so I vote for the former. I have a killer short cake recipe shamelessly stolen from a restaurant--add chopped candied ginger, rosemary, and a bit of cardamon to the short cake recipe and it is lovely. Even works with Bisquik, if you are looking for short cuts.

enjoy!
