i want to get a laptop with wifi or a net book so i can keep in touch with all of you fine people as i travel across the country.

what do you suggest?

HPs got a nice netbook out now for under $300.....

I use my Dell Inspiron with my Sprint Blackberry as a tethered modem. You can get internet access anywhere there's a cell signal and as long as your laptop has battery or you have a power adaptor in your car, the laptop charges the Blackberry at the same time. I can sit in a cow pasture and sell stuff on eBay if I feel inclined : )

I love my MAC laptop, plugged it in, turned it on and it worked. (not sure about prices now though)

I have a mac laptop as well although they are much more expensive than PC laptops. They are much more reliable and so much less hassle (viruses etc.,) than PCs. I've also got a PC and Mac Desktop at home. The mac's last much longer and have far fewer issues.

I love my Toshiba.. Fryes Electronics have awesome deals... if you can put up with the store itself...

I suggest you take the long way around via the Gulf of Mexico and I'll let you post from my computer...wear the kilt. : )

maybe getting a "smart phone" with internet capability would be a cheaper option.

but in the long run it maybe cheaper to just get a new laptop for this

either way, the coolness factor goes up
