Yeah, Stormy Weather was early 40s. A number of years ago, my sister took a dance class taught by the grand-daughter of the older of the two brothers, and despite their being one of the hottest dance numbers around, most of their movie apprearances in the 40s and 50s went uncredited because they were black. They were also often not allowed to use the front entrances of the places where they were performing.

People know of Sammy Davis, Jr. because he was able to cross over. The Nicholas brothers made Sammy look sick-and that is saying something because Davis was a great dancer. Do a YouTube search on the brothers. The stuff that they did was just jaw-dropping.
