Go to a doctor. Depending on where you are, there's probably a doc in the box open somewhere. Not cheap, depending on your insurance - but isn't it worth it to get rid of the pain and keep your hearing?

Hi CG! I'm sorry you're in pain, but I might be able to help a little bit.

My sister used to get earaches all the time. My would run a cloth under hot water or plug in our heating pad and then my sister would lay on it on the side the sore ear was on - her ear on the hot compress. That sometimes helps. If it's a wax build-up or something, that can help relieve it. My sister's ear used to drain after awhile laying on the compress. However, I do agree with the other advice that you should go to a doctor to find out if it's something more serious first.

Feel better!! {{{{{hug}}}}}

Sorry for your discomfort CG.

Don't sleep on that ear, if it is just one side. Here are some other tips:

When you or someone in the family is suffering from ear ache pain, try to sleep with the bad ear facing up. Sometimes you think that sleeping on the painful ear will help, but in fact it doesn't.There are pain killers that you can take to help with ear pain relief. These pain killers contain acetaminophen like Tylenol or Ibuprofen can help with the headache pain relief. You need to be careful on how much you take as they can cause stomach problems.You can also find antiseptic eardrops. These eardrops will provide fast and efficient ear ache pain relief. Use them according to the instructions on the box.There is also warm compresses, like a hand towel that can be applied to the hurt ear for quick ear pain relief.If you don’t have any medicated eardrops available to use, here is a household remedy. Warm up some garlic, vegetable or olive oil and put a couple of drops in the infected ear for ear pain relief. You need to make sure that the oil is warm and not hot. If the oil is hot, you can cause permanent damage, such as affecting your hearing.
There is an easy way for you to check to see if the oil is warm or hot. Apply a drop on your inner arm to see if it is okay to administer in your ear infection for fast pain relief.

Is it "popping"? Or just a dull ache? Not that it matters, but the popping is probably wax. But a severe build-up that needs to be removed, preferably by a doctor. The do sell those OCT things...but I don't trust doing that yourself.

Either way, you have an ear infection, that needs some antibiotics. Go To The Doc!!

and get better soon! {{{{{HUGS}}}}

You could try Benadryl first, if you have allergies and you think it's just a plugged eustachian tube on that side. Or, Augmentin is generic and can be prescribed inexpensively by a nurse practitioner or clinic doc. You should pursue this ASAP if you have a fever, too... Hope you feel better!
