So, I organized a happy hour after commencement ceremonies for faculty in my college. The idea was to encourage new faculty and celebrate the end of the year together. I asked department chairs to send out the invites to their departments. My department is the largest and our chair put a link to the invite in an e-mail but not much else. At the end of a semester, no one clicks on links in e-mails so not one person I've talked to thought they were invited.

Soooo, now I'm off to a local eatery to sit by myself for an hour or two just in case someone shows.

I'll be back later to check in with you guys. Fino, I'll drink one for you!

I just had a solemn happy hour as well. Then I went to the neighbors, and drank some more. Now I'm getting ready to drink even more.

Happy Friday Everyone!!!!!!!

*Sighs*

I hear you, Corky. Every week I send out a mass email to the entire school. I invite one and all to come out on Thursday Night to have a group dinner and drinks fest. In the old days (Jeez! I sound like a grandpa...) we would get 10-25 people showing up. Now, with the new generation in the school, I am lucky if 3 people show.

The apathy and general unawareness is depressing.

I SERIOUSLY need to find a time-space continuum transporter! I would SO be at your Happy Hour, Corky!! (For those who do not know, Corky has a nearly flawless ability to pick GREAT place to eat and relax.)

But are you going to help get her drunk by telling her to have a drink for you?

Corky knows that I do not touch alcohol-so ALL of my 2-drink minimums automatically wind up in front of her!!

Hey Corky! I think you should come to our Ski Club Happy Hour instead -- it's tonight also, and they'd love to meet you. With the time zone difference, you could put in an appearance at yours, jump on a plane to LA, I'll pick you up and drive you to ours. There are sure to be a dozen or more folks here! Of course, it's really a club of drinkers who just happen to ski...
