In reality, anyone can issue themselves a PhD, or any other title you like. It's just a piece of paper.

I've always taken issue with awards and such. I have plaques in my office for technical achievements, my degree, patents, and blah blah blah. I have empty dirty coffee cups, too.

But the awards are just these blocks of wood, or paper (which is still wood... excuse my geek moment), with some guy's signature on it who never met me, or saw my work, or in any way influenced my life. I could care less about these men or their anonymousawards, but I need those plaques and pieces of paper so I can earn money. Weird.

There's this one award, though, that doesn't earn me a dime. It says, "To the world you're one person, but to one person, you're the world." My son gave me that for Valentine's Day. It's in front of the meaningless awards, along with drawings and paper cutouts and me and my soccer boys. THOSE awards mean something to me.

CG's already earned her award. She's a good mommy.

Take a break, CG. It should be Spring Break anyway, eh.
