So you give a mouse a cookie, a moose a muffin and a polar bear a meatloaf? Good to know. I've only ever read the first two books to my kids. Bad Mommy!

I now feel prepared to go into Canada or the Tundra (as if those are two different things.)

If you head up this way, you're welcome to visit my igloo.
Oh yay!!

week of March 16th okay with you?

Sure! Anything particularly significant about that week?

Nope. I was just "testing" you. The dating forum taught me women are supposed to do that, so I figured I'd practice.

The bear that used to get into my garbage cans had a particular fondness for peanut butter...licked those jars clean. Y'all might try that.
Meg you just offer that peanut butter jar to a man and if he can lick it clean it as well as the bear, here's what you do.

Get a lasso, hog-tie him, drag him into the house and tie him up in your bed and never let him go.

But...my tongue isn't long enough to reach the bottom of a regular jar! Can she get one of those shorter peanut butter jars instead? I'm fairly sure I could do that.

No worries, Tant. Just let the puppy finish up the rest of the peanut butter. You can find better uses for your tongue......

Those photos are actually pretty freakin' scary. If I was ever that close to a polar bear...I'd want at least a foot of plexiglass between us.

Good plan!

Can I use you as a practice partner? I'm no good at that kind of stuff!

Ok, it's time for a professional bear avoider to set you all straight on the ins and outs of polar bear etiquette.. I is edjukated in it.. Now, first off, the polarus bearius can't see worth spit.. Second, the polarus bearius can hear and smell things that we couldn't see.. And third, polarus beariuses are very curious, second only in nature to homo sapienus femalius..

Soooo, with these facts in hand, the polarus bearius will hear you from a distance so great that you will not see him.. Being curious, he will circle around you to get down wind so that great large smeller on his face will find your scent and he will know whether there is a possibility for lunch.. Then he will approach to get close enough to see you..

While there are stop gap measures that might dissuade him/her, the most tried and true method of avoiding an attack on your person, is to have someone with you that cannot run as fast as you can.. It is a technical term in the industry, but we call that person, "the sandwich.."
