Well, here's the thing. My furnace broke down today - in the middle of winter. It's minus 20 or so outside (celsius) and colder with the windchill. It got to about 15 degrees in the house. The furnace is now fixed, but it is still freezing in here. Any warm-up ideas? I figured this would be the best place to ask!!

Move south and then you'll fuss about the heat when hurricanes come through.

15 degrees in your house? You better watch for hypothermia. Can you see your breath?

It was a near thing there for a bit! I was huddled under eight or so blankets and still shivering!!

That sounds so dangerous....have you called any companies to fix this?? Perhaps need to go to the hardware store and get a temporary space heater. I can't imagine being in that cold of a weather. It was around mid 20s outside last December..and I could barely stand it!

I called my landlord and he sent someone to fix it, thank goodness! My roommates have been unsuccessful in getting him to budge on anything, so I'm amazed I prevailed and saw success! It's warming up now, but it's a slow process.

This isn't even as cold as it gets here. A little -45, anyone? How about -52 with the windchill? I'll wear a skirt if you will!! lol

Just don't waste your money on one of those "energy saving" Amish heaters ... they're over-priced and the heater is made in China (the Amish only make the wooden frame surrounding them).
