So we all know about my well pump issues. So today I go to the store for some terlet paper and other sundries, go to pay with my debit card, and REJECT. Huh? I JUST got paid, that's why I was at the store! So I write a check, grrrr, and come home to make sure nothing untoward has happened like a direct deposit not going in. On the bank's home page is a red link that says something about "Card security compromise...." so I click the link. It appears that whoever handles the Visa credit and debit cards for my bank (it's a credit union) has been hacked. So, they just boom, canceled everybody's Visa anything. Gah. There isn't a branch of the CU anywhere NEAR me, and I have a dollar in my wallet. Means I now have to go all the way to a branch and get some cash.

So, since I had an electric and cell phone bill due this week, I logged into my accounts with them (I always pay on line) to see if I had either of them tied to the debit card. I log into electric company and click "pay my bill" to see if it says it pays off my debit card and it says "You can't pay your bill on line." Now, the REASON for this is because last month they took my stinking payment out TWICE, causing me to overdraw my checking account and rack up $230, count 'em $230 in overdraft fees. I called them, and they didn't care. So I go to bank and say "help, what can I do." They said "Here, fill out this form that says they weren't authorized to take that payment out twice and we'll put it back in your account," and they also said they would give me back half the overdraft fees. Well yippee, right? Sure enough, next day the overdraft fee credit showed up, and the next Monday the electric double payment showed back up. So now the electric company is telling me I can't pay my bill on line. IT WAS THEIR MISTAKE IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!! I could eat nails right now. I will now have to go to bank tomorrow, ask them for a copy of that thingie I signed so I can take it, go to the electric company and politely and in a most ladylike fashion shove the form up some manager-type's nose and then demand that he go on the web site and show me where the button is that says "pay this bill twice in one day." Methinks he won't be able to do that. GAH. I need booze. And maybe some wacky tobaccy. And maybe some Percodan. Or a handful of Xanax. Or anything any of you got that will put me in a coma. augh.

Want to throw cat turds with me? I've come to the conclusion that they are the perfect weapon... biohazard, psychological warfare, and a renewable resource.... so you win on all fronts when you ping them off the heads of the idiots you are after

I can understand your frustration with your CU. The one that I have dealt with since I was 10 has turned in to a major hemorrhoid the past few years!

I've heard of people having issues with utilities over-charging or charging multiples before. Perhaps the best solution is to not let them automatically charge ... recouping only half of overdraft fees is NOT acceptable.

I'm sorry you're having a bad week...it does sound like the universe has temporarily turned against you. The good news is, it keeps turning and the good side's bound to turn up again at some point.

I'm with TP on auto withdrawal. Every time I've tried it there have tbeen issues. Whether it was utilities, insurance, or mortgage payments. I go online once a month and click a button to pay my bill. I get a confirmation number with the draft amount. They can't get me.

Of course it helps when I remember to fund the account that the bills are paid from : )

Chin up, Fino. I'm sendng you virtual booze and smokes and good company.

I don't have them auto-withdraw it. I go in and actually schedule a payment to come out. So my solution I guess will have to be write down on the calendar what day the stupid bill is due and just pay the bill. And I actually LOVE my credit union. They have helped me out in all kinds of ways, bending over backwards to do things that a "big bank" would look at me like I was crazy if I asked. I always go to the same branch, and even if they can't pull my name out of the air right off, they know who I am when I come in, and you get good, solid and PERSONAL service from them. I should have noticed the double payment thing sooner, I guess, but it's not like I log in and look at my checking account every single day. I usually just go in the day after an direct deposit was scheduled to go in and make sure it did. It just so happened that there wasn't another one scheduled to go in for another 8 days or so after this fubar happened, so there were 8 days that I didn't know it had happened. I have overdraft protection on the account, so nothing bounced, but still. Grrrrr.

I don't like having auto payments. Bad luck always seem to come in threes for me. I know it's aggravating as heck, fino. Oh, I have a couple of valiums that you can have.

Oooooh, Mother's Little Helper! That would put a smile on my face! Or maybe those little x's on my eyes like you see in cartoons. Either way, it's better than the current steam coming out of my ears.

Deep breath...hold it in...exhale slowly! How's that? Better? That was from my special stash! Want another? It'll be all good in about 2 minutes.

I'm having the same freaking week fino! I never screw up my bank accounts...until last month. I paid my employer's payroll tax (941) on line. Well, I forgot to post it in my bank ledger. hahahahaha.....it was ALL good until Tuesday. When I'm trying to balance my statement and find out that I'm now $1200 less than I thought. Then I forgot to transfer my own money into the business yesterday to cover it...Thank goodness I've never done that before. My banker was able to get the one nsf check before it was sent back, he cleared ALL the fees...and on and on and on...

So I tell youdear...we are 2 peas in a pod!! Now, will you Please have a better week next week. I can't take much more of this...
