why I love my job...besides getting to wear pajamas and running shoes....i never know what the day will bring, i will never know all of the answer. I get to figure out puzzles, and do some finetuning things where i remember that i am proud of my eeye-hand coordination. and everyonce in awhile...there is a surprisingly good outcome.

oh, and somebody paid me with a pig again before christmas.

Well, aside from the fact that I work two blocks from the beach in a town where flip-flops are considered appropriate dress, and the Mardi Gras parades stage right outside my building, I work with the most awesome bunch of people ever. Instead of meaningless commendations, etc. in dull meetings, when I do a good job on a last-minute rush project, I get:

way to get it done girl. want a cookie? i smuggled a couple out of the buffet. in my pants. just kidding.

LOL...kind of makes coming to work every day worth while. Oh, it was a chocolate, peanut-butter chip cookie. My day is complete.

Why I love my job . . . I work at home and I get to pull out all the stops on my creativity. I'm constantly learning new things about graphic art and I totally love working with clients.

I work six months a year, three weeks on and three weeks off.. I get paid enough to indulge my fantasies.. Such as living on a sailboat, (some people might call it a yacht) anywhere in the world I may care to anchor it, and have enough time to get it there.. And I get to work outside at -40 degrees with a wind chill of -98 degrees because some a chemical engineer with a Ph.D didn't know what the E meant on his fuel gauge or took a short cut across a lake in a snow cat to see if it will function as a submarine.. (at the South Pole, we used to quip about the scientists, "If it weren't for them we wouldn't be here.. If it weren't for us, they'd all be dead.." It keeps life an adventure..

I work 12 months a year with 3 months off every quarter. It's tough, but somebody has to do it. Actually, I just took down my outside Christmas lights today! Solved tax problem yesterday! Freaked over the weekend. Dr. and din din tomorrow. I stay busy -- sometimes.

Dude... let's go sailing! I must admit that i'm a power skipper, but I really want a live aboard sailboat! I'd love to pick your brain sometime.

Me... I get paid well to play with computers. I'm very lucky and all of my clients are friends.... it really doesn't get any better.

I decided a while back to get paid for doing the things I love. I love teaching pilates and cycling because I get a work-out---I get an endorphin rush---and they make my body feel good. I also like focusing on other people and nurturing them. And I love putting together my playlists for cycling.

I sort of love teaching legal writing---but I'd love teaching creative writing more. Still, it's writing, and I love writing. And when I teach it, I learn more about writing. I also enjoy a nice debate or philosophical conversation, and we do have that in legal writing and appellate advocacy. Plus again, I like helping people. And I like interacting with people.

Oh, and I like attention. I get lots of positive attention teaching.

Oh, and I form relationships (not the romantic kind)---and I like that too---being an important part of a community. Just tonight I saw so many of my old students during our break. I loved it.

Why I love writing---my lowest (more like no -est) paying job. It simply is who I am. My brain lives in my fiction world half of the time. And it possesses me. I just have to write it down and share it. Plus, I work out my issues when I write. Oh---and I get to read a lot and watch a lot of movies and call it work.
