The P.O. is not dead. I believe it is currently on Life Support.

I believe the prognosis is good.

If you read the bible (particularly latter part of Mark) you better understand that Jesus didn't believe in rising from the dead ... makes a nonsense of his sacrifice if he did. It is a spiritual amongst believers that is referred to, not a bodily resurrection. Really, what they teach in Sunday school these day!

What are you saying here? Are you being sarcastic or serious?

Of course I'm being serious. No where in Mark does Jesus say he will be resurrected in body. Remember Mark is the 1st gospel. Nor is there any account of anyone claiming such in Mark. The whole point was Jesus giving up his life; not taking a 3 day vocation in a cave. You are required to respect god. Full stop. Not because of any reward. But because it is the right thing to do. Are you suggesting that Christians are only “nice” because they expect to escape death. That makes em sound pretty callous. And it just isn’t in the bible!

well I am not nice or good because I think that will make it so I can escape death. Physical death happens to everyone and is not the death to fear. The second death is the one to fear because it means separation totally from God forever and ever. He is life and to be separated from Him will be death. Being good does not get me out of this second death because no matter how good I am or what great deeds I can do, they cannot buy or pay my way out of the debt I owe or make me holy enough to meet God's standards.

As for Jesus not having bodily resurrection and it only being spiritual, I totally disagree. Your views on this from only the book of Mark does not substantiate your claim. Jesus met with believers several times, ate with them, had them touch him so that they would know He was just not spirit but also raised in bodily form. That is part of the hope that we have as Christians- to be redeemed spirit, soul, and body. I, for one, am looking forward to my new body that will no longer be affected by the curse. Jesus did not take a 3 day vacation in a grave- He not only conquered sin, but also death. He holds the keys to death and the grave. His bodily resurrection was proof that the Father accepted His sacrifice.

Part of the conflict encountered in Acts with the disciples was over their preaching about Jesus and the resurrection. Also Jesus Himself raised Lazarus bodily from the dead and a young girl, Tabitha. So why would you think that He would only have a spiritual resurrection when He demonstrated that physical resurrection was possible?

I believe in the resurrection which is foundational to Christian beliefs; it demonstrates the power of God to the world and was witnessed by the world.

This is the day that the Lord hath made, be glad and rejoice in it!

I love this scripture verse. My grandmother's parakeet used to quote it all the time. Not sure how she got him to learn it. Plus he learned a number of other phrases. It was amazing. I never was able to get any of my birds to say one word. LOL

Pray tell, where in the book of Mark Jesus mets with any believers after he died. Mark is the only eyewitness account. The other gospels were written generations after the tale they told. And Paul who wrote Acts was even latter.

Humm, it does seem you're only christain because you ant eternal life. Doesn't sound very moral to me; and not what Jesus taught. You have to be good fo its own sake, and like Jesus showed us, we all die and then nothing. That is the point of his teaching.

even if you disallow the very end of mark, the last 22 verses that are in contention, the book of mark ends thus:

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?"

But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.' "

Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.

mark 16:1-8
