I just picked this up from another site - it is an amazing story of how this song came to be. If you haven't heard about this, it is a true blessing -
Bluetree, a Christian group from Belfast was invited to play worship music in a brothel in Thailand. God gave them this song as they played - right on stage in a brothel.

How Chris Tomlin picked up the song: (Chris gives a little more background)

trying to get this thread to post for the third time over the last couple of hours - hope I don't wake up in the morning and find 3 copies of it

Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. I actually sang that song in worship one Sunday morning and wasn't even familiar with it. I had not heard it played on the radio yet and didn't know about it. It's really cool to find out the origin of the song. It means so much more when you know where songs came from, who wrote them and what they had in mind when they were written. For me, personally, this has always been extremely important, particularly because I have sung cantatas and arias in choir and they have always had a background to them.

As for Thailand, it has always been a horrible thing in my mind that families are forced to give their daughters into prostitution in order to survive. I could never imagine doing that to my daughter. What's even more horrible is that the economy in Thailand tyhrives on this business and that people from all over Europe and the UK and US and whatever country go there and think nothing of getting involved with the prostitution as entertainment and part of their holiday experience. Makes me want to send down a Yiddish curse on them like the mother in the Fiddler On the Roof would do. "May you die the death of a thousand STDs!!!"

Wow! I am so glad you posted this. I LOVE this song (The Blutree version) but even though I've heard it many times on my radio station I've never heard them say who the artist was so I had no idea who sang it. Then the story behind it. It's always so amazing to me how God works. It's no wonder the song is so beautiful and powerful. Truly "there is no one like our God"! This song means so much more to me now. Thank you for the post.
