Guessing what I think is a good way to make mistakes. In this instance, for example, I take no position regarding motivations of anonymous individuals who choose to work for (or strive for) money. Whether or not they are in pursuit of materialism is of no concern to me.
Well that's fine...I have no problem making a mistake about guessing. You can simply correct me.

And you did take a position about that...it's what I replied to... you said "Most people will agree that it "takes money'. - I know better".

And again I reply that perhaps you think people who pursue money are in it for materialism because that's a common cause of unhappiness - that when I get A, B & C, I'll be happy (materially-driven happiness) so as you say you've found a better way (which I also assume means happier) I made a guess at perhaps what that might be.

I love the idea of someone throwing caution to the wind and 'going out west.' I'm biased of course, because I live out here, but I think anyone who abandons urban stress, and leaves the rat race to stare at the peaks of the Rockies from the back of a horse has it all figured out. The peace I gather from being in a truly isolated environment makes my job easy. I'm an excavator, and I work outside everyday, it's brutal work but I am often working in environments most people only dream of. Sitting on a rock in the middle of a postcard to eat my packed lunch makes a job that would be most people's nightmare a privilege.

I lived in Hollywood, CA for a while, and I found myself getting teary eyed when I watched movies like Legends of the Fall, which depicted jaw-dropping images of my native Montana.
