Here's a personal one from me...

I coach softball after school on Tuesday and Friday afternoons for an hour and a half. Today, March 31, 2009 I took my group of 14 kids out to the field. We got through our stretches and warm-up routine and did some catching to loosen up the arms when it started raining.

Now here in Florida, the rain usually only lasts for 15 minutes. So, my die-hard softball players and myself stayed on the field throwing the balls. The rain lasted for about 5 minutes. About a minute or two later it came back. We were already drenched, so we kept throwing the balls and catching. Then the rain turned to hail...which usually means that a tornado is in the area or getting ready to whip up.

I had prayed earlier today that God would make me a strong leader and that He would protect me from harm. My kids and I were getting pelted by the pieces of ice that were about the size of well grown peas. We made the 150 yards without any injury and no tornado.

Sometimes, we can do intercessory prayer for ourselves without even knowing it. The power of prayer is a great way to worship and communicate with God. I try to remember to open my prayer with "Lord, you are Holy, Holy, Holy." because He is the ONLY one worthy of my praise, trust, and dedication. Amen!

Here's a message that will bring you chills.

Have you ever felt the urge to pray for someone and then just put it on a list and said, 'I'll pray for them later?'

Or has anyone ever called you and said, 'I need you to pray for me, I have this need?'

Read the following story that was sent to me and may it change the way that you may think about prayer and also the way you pray. You will be blessed by this....

A missionary on furlough told this true story while visiting his home church in Michigan .

'While serving at a small field hospital in Africa , every two weeks I traveled by bicycle through the jungle to a nearby city for supplies. This was a journey of two days and required camping overnight at the halfway point.

On one of these journeys, I arrived in the city where I planned to collect money from a bank, purchase medicine, and supplies, and then begin my two-day journey back to the field hospital. Upon arrival in the city, I observed two men fighting, one of whom had been seriously injured.I treated him for his injuries and at the same time talked to him about the Lord. I then traveled two days, camping overnight, and arrived home without incident....

Two weeks later I repeated my journey. Upon arriving in the city, I was approached by the young man I had treated. He told me that he had known I carried money and medicines.

He said, 'Some friends and I followed you into the jungle, knowing you would camp overnight. We planned to kill you and take your money and drugs. But just as we were about to move into your camp, we saw that you were surrounded by 26 armed guards. At this, I laughed and said that I was certainly all alone in that jungle campsite. The young man pressed the point, however, and said, 'No, sir, I was not the only person to see the guards, my friends also saw them, and we all counted them. It was because of those guards that we were afraid and left you alone'
At this point in the sermon, one of the men in the congregation jumped to his feet and
interrupted the missionary and asked if he could tell him the exact day this happened.

The missionary told the congregation the date, and the man who interrupted told him this story:'On the night of your incident in Africa , it was morning here and I was preparing to go play golf. I was about to putt when I felt the urge to pray for you. In fact, the urging of the Lord was so strong, I called men in this church to meet with me here in the sanctuary to pray for you. Would all of those men who met with me on that day stand up?'

The men who had met together to pray that day stood up. The missionary wasn't concerned with who they were, he was too busy counting how many men he saw.

There were 26!

This story is an incredible example of how the Spirit of the Lord moves in mysterious ways. If you ever hear such prodding, go along with it. Nothing is ever hurt by prayer except the gates of hell.

I encourage you to forward this to as many people as you know. If we all take it to heart, we can turn this world toward God once again.

As the above true story clearly illustrates, 'With God all things are possible'. More importantly, how God hears and answers the prayers of the faithful. After you read this, please pass it on and give God thanks for the beautiful gift of your faith, for the powerful gift of prayer, and for the many miracles He works in your own daily life... and then pass it on.

Who says God does not work in mysterious ways? I asked the Lord to bless you as I prayed for you today. To guide you and protect you as you go along your way. His
love is always with you, His promises are true, and when we give Him our cares you
know He will see us through. So when the road you're traveling on seems difficult at best, just remember I'm here praying, and God will do the rest.

Pass this on to those whom you want God to bless.

Matt 6:33 Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given unto you
our god is awesome. i believe in the power of pray and am praying for a mircle myself. i will indeed pass this along to other. may gaod bless and keep you.

It would seem that I forgot to get back with my second story...

This one is not quite as interesting as the first - but for me it was another eye-opener. After the experience at the Olympics - I don't worry so much when unplanned things happen that interrupt my plans. My next story is similar in that it also involves a road trip.

Three years ago at Christmas, I was going to visit my parents. I had planned to get there in time to go with their Sunday School class to serve dinner to homeless people. I was really excited about it (I love Christmas, but I hate the way that it has been so commercialized. So I look for things to do every year to keep to the true spirit of Christmas). I was in a bit of a hurry that morning trying to leave, ended up forgetting something and having to come back home. This put me so that I would get there about 30 minutes too late to go with them to server dinner. The trip is about five and a half hours. I was disappointed so I thought maybe I could make up a little time. I tried a new road that a friend told me was a cut-through that would shave off about 20 minutes. The road ended up being closed for construction, there was a detour - so instead of shaving off any time, I was now another 15 minutes behind. I was a bit frustrated, then I remembered the previous story and reminded myself that maybe, I just wasn't supposed to be there.

So, I relaxed, quite trying to make up the time, turned on the Christmas music and decided to enjoy the drive. About 3 hours later I'm on a two-lane road cutting through the mountains of Western NC - and all of the sudden traffic is completely stopped. In front of me all I can see is cars. Since I was stopped in front of a small store, I decided it would be a good time to take a little break since clearly we weren't moving any time soon. I asked the clerk in the store what was going on and she told me there had been a horrible accident ahead. Two ambulances and two life-flight helicopters had been brought in. I asked her when it happened - she said "about 45 minutes ago".

My jaw dropped and my face probably went pale. I got back in my car and back in the line of traffic. I was not only praying for the people ahead - but thanking God that I was 45 minutes late.

I was very late for Christmas dinner, but I still got to serve up a few plates to some very grateful people and participate in singing Christmas Carols around a very badly tuned piano It was a wonderful Christmas!

I have one of the humor of God. Years ago the church I belonged to had an annual family camp where church members gathered at a state park ( in OR) for a weekend. One year we were at the state park near Astoria. Oregon, in July, gets almost no rain. But this whole weekend was cloudy and looked like we might get a little rain. Well, we did get some sprinkles. Only for a minute or two on Sunday. Right as we sang "Our God Reigns".

Okay, this one happened to me personally:

My freshman year in college, during spring semester, we had a very rainy season. My freshman class was the largest one that TFC had ever seen. They don't cap enrollment so they had a bit of a housing issue. They bought doublewide trailers/manufactured houses. I was living in one with about eight other girls.

One morning at around 2 or 3 a.m., we were awakened and evacuated to the gymnasium because there was a tornado warning. Grabbing some pillows and blankets, my room-mate and another housemate, we ran out to my car. It was a trusty station wagon. My bike was in the back, so I threw it out onto the grass to make room for my house-mate Keisha while my room-mateAmanda got in the front. I finally got in behind the wheel when the rainfall started to get heavier. There was a car nearby that had an alarm system going off and all I could think of was being told as a child that tornados sound like trains.

Either my adrenaline was rushing to much, or my heart was pounding to loudly because it took me at least 5 - 10 minutes to get the keys in the ignition. I yelled out that the tornado was coming because it was sounding like a train. Other students were still clamoring into their cars and some of the students in the married housing were driving past us to the gym. I gues the car alarm was really affecting me toomaking my ears hear the "train."Amanda looked over at me and said, "it wouldn't sound like a train with a car horn." She then said, "Jenn, breathe. Put the key in the ignition and breathe."

Meanwhile, Keisha is in the back praying. In the three minute drive to the gym, we all prayed for protection over our friends, professors, and everyone on campus. Then I prayed for protection over us because the rain was pouring down so hard that I couldn't see anything. The three minute drive turned out to be more of an eight minute drive.

I parked in the first parking spot available. The three of us got out of the car with our pillows and blankets. Keisha andAmanda were faster than I was. Keisha made it to the gym. I tripped on the first step and fell, hitting my right knee on the corner of the step. I sat in the pouring rain and began to proclaim that the tornado would not come in the name of Jesus. Amanda saw that I was not right behind her and stopped at the top of the step. Later she said that she was yelling for me to get up several times, but I hadn't heard her through the noise of the storm. Then I heard, "Jenn! Get up!" I looked in the direction of the voice and saw Amanda calling to me. At that instant, a light pole that she was standing about four feet from was struck by lightning.

Next thing I knew, I was on my feet. I ran up the steps with lightening speed (no pun intended,) and down the path leading to the open doors of the gym. Being thouroughly drenched at this time, as soon as I hit the tile floor to the enterance, I slid and fell backwards onto the floor but without injury. Fortunately the gym had large dryers to dry the blankets we had that were drenched. I was cold, soaked, exhausted, and unable to sleep.

We watched for a few hours as the storm passed through. The students in the brick dorms were evacuated to their basements. I missed my morning classes the next day, and a few lower level classrooms were relocated for a few days because of mud that had flooded in under the door jams.

So, how is this story a "Wow! God is alive!" story you may be asking. Well, the day after the storm, Keisha told me that the moment after I prayed protection over us, a bolt of lightening had hit the ground beside my car on the rear passenger side and went directly around the car to the passenger behind the driver's side and was gone. She said that she couldn't tell me about it because she was afraid I was stressed out already. Amanda said that she saw the flash of lightening as well, but I didn't see it. I think God had shielded me from that picture because I was needed to get them safely to the gym and I would have surely panicked. The other point is that a tornado never formed.

God still hears us when we pray!

I saw a story on "Unsolved Mysteries" about some people from a church who each for some reason or another didn't make a particular midweek service. As i recall there was a fire or explosion or something that night; nobody was hurt.
