I have been stationed in Chicago, Pensacola and Virginia before here. I am actually out on deployment at the moment, down around South America. We shall arrive sometime in August. Currently I have three years left in Japan, though if I really love it I might well stay there for another tour if possible. What sort of store do you run? Instinct says clothing but really I have no idea. Oh, and its good to meet you!

A hunch I suppose? I imagine it must be sort of a dream job. So do you know a lot of us military types from the area? As I understand it we have something of a poor reputation.

l used to know a few females, but they have all moved away. l have been on the base at Atsugi before actually. l love shopping there! Actually the store is not a dream job for me per se, it is just something l stumbled upon and it is better than teaching so l do it. So what is your job in the Navy? The reputation is bad because a few bad ones ruin it for the rest. Compared to the rest of the Japanese population crime is much lower for the military and foreigners in general. lf it was up to the Japanese goverment they would kick all the foreigners out, lol.

So very true about just a few of us military folks ruining it for the rest of us. Sort of like if the apple on top of the barrel is rotten, you might think the rest are as well! So were you an English teacher before running your store? I have heard that quite a few of us gaijin types choose to take part in that profession. Speaking of jobs, I am an Electronics Technician, which sounds far more interesting then it is, I assure you. So what do you do for fun over there in Japan?

Actually l was a missionary for 3 years which included English teaching. After that l worked for a few Japanese and foreign companies to raise the capital for my store. So did you go to college to be an Electronics Technician (E.T.?? Haha) or did you learn it in the Navy? At least you will be in high demand if you ever decide to leave the Navy. l was just reading an article online about that yesterday.

l love going to festivals and events! ln Osaka there is always something interesting to do. Kyoto, Kobe, and Nara are also close by so there are always plenty of options. How about you? What do you do for fun in Japan? ln America? Abroad?

P.s. What does Arem mean?
