What are your Fitness Goals for 2010? How will you approach and achieve those goals?

~~~
Mine is to get back on track and lose all my weight!
To get back on track I will:
-double up my personal trainer sessions to 2x/week for the first month of the year
-use Michi's ladder as a guideline for my eating, making sure that 90% of what I eat is from Tiers 1 - 3. This will involve keeping a food journal which I HATE doing (mostly for the time involved) but, I need to do it because I need to succeed at losing my weight!
For me it is all about staying consistent. I have a goal weight of 157, but who knows I might adjust it downward once I get there
If I stay consistent and keep the scales moving downward then I'll be happy.
Have you ever tried dailyplate.com? There's no way I could food journal any other way, but the site and it's pre-programmable meals and saving what you eat most, made it VERY easy. I believe it's connected to livestrong.com now.
I'm trying to spend more time on my eating plan. It's good, I just veer off too frequently...one extra day a week doing what I should would help immensely.
My first fitness goal is to start attending jiu jitsu at least twice a week each week. I want to up to three times a week by the end of the year.
Also, this winter, my goal is to continue my "green tea instead of hot chocolate" plan. I LOVE hot chocolate and the way I make it, it's 400-500 calories a cup...definitely a diet killer. Thankfully green tea is one of my favorite drinks too.
Thanks Peppermint! I have heard great things about DailyPlate, I have to check it out!
I love green tea! It's really good for you in lots of ways and is said to help in weight loss as well!
I'll copy some of the comments I had in another thread and add just a little.
I started my current emphasis on fitness and health around March 15 of last year. I originally listed my weight as being 179 at that time, but I'm thinking it may have been closer to 177. My overall goal is to be between 150 and 155, but by March 15 I'd like to be around 157 if possible and achieve an overall 20 pound weight loss for the year.
I think the real challenge for me this year is at some point I'm going to have to transition from a routine of losing to maintaining. I could probably go as low as 150 and still not look skinny, but I can't keep losing forever so I'll have to find a routine that works.
I'd like to be able to run some 10K races by spring or fall. Spring might be a little too optimistic. A couple of weeks ago I ran 7 miles straight for the first time. I'll build on that and see if I can get to a point where I can do a 10K in under 50 minutes. When I can do that I'll enter some races. That's not good enough to win my age group by any means, but it might be enough for top 10 (in my age group) in some local races.
It will be interesting to look back a year from now, and see how it all went
Update: I did hit my goal of 157, but I'm kind of plateau'd at the moment. But then again it might be because I'm doing more running and building some muscle in my legs.
Twice a week I run 8 miles and have been doing it in around 56 minutes. Two other days I do an Arc Trainer for an hour, and 3 days I've been doing various workouts around the house. I"m going to drop that to 2 days around the house and take one day off.
I was actually doing better in my 10K preparations than I thought. For some reason I had gotten it in my head that 10K was 7.2 miles, and of course it is only 6.2 miles. I think I could do a 10K in around 43 minutes but not sure.
Anyway just checking in to say things are still going well.
Hmm, not a whole lot of activity here, but it helps me to post at various times to see where I'm at and how things are going.
I'm around 156 or might be just a shade below. I don't have much more that I can lose. I'm setting a goal of 1 pound per month over the next 4 months. I'm still keeping my exercise routine, and my eating is consistent. I was told that 10 laps around the indoor track that I run is a mile, but then someone else told me it might be closer to 10 1/2. I figure since it is indoors and flat I should add a little bit to what I'm running to be closer to what 8 miles would actually feel like outdoors so I'm now running 88 laps. I would like to break 60 minutes short-term and then work my way down to 56 minutes so I could feel comfortable saying I could average 7 minute miles over the course of 8 miles.
So if you're still out there just stay with your routines as best you can, and if you've fallen off the wagon then get back on
Hmm ... I have two goals, but I think one is health and one is fitness, but I can't get the fitness one without the health one! lol
~ Make sure I take my multi-vitamins daily. I no longer eat enough to get enough nutrients and without them I lack energy I need to add consistent exercise into my life this (second half) of 2010.
~ Begin exercising consistently. I was off to a great start until I got a respiratory infection. One more week of anti-biotics to go and hopefully by then I'll be recovered well enough to exercise again.
I'm frustrated by getting sick now. I can't remember the last time I was frustrated because I can't exercise. How attitudes do change! lol
