A favourite author of mine, Parker Palmer, brings to attention the fact that God made us who we are from before we born. When you look at a child, before the world and the expectations of others get in the way, you can see the seeds of who they are meant to be. He emphasizes the point that when God asked us about our lives, he is not going to ask why we weren't Moses, or Mother Teresa or whoever you see as the models of faith for you. God is going to ask why you weren't the you you were created to be.

Don't get me wrong. I am not talking about robots. I am talking about gifts and innate values that seem to show in children at a young age. God didn't create carbon copy people so our faith shouldn't be lived in a carbon copy way.

When I was an elementary school kid, I tended to step betwen other kids and bullies. Somehow social justice was knit into me from an early age. Yesterday I went to a meeting for social justice chairs in the school divisions in my province and I felt like I had walked into a place where I fit. I am finding the person who was evident in my childhood and, in that, am finding the person at peace with God.

What things in your childhood point to the person God created you to be? What positive and negative experiences indicate areas of strength and longing in you that we could encourage you in?

I believe we are born with a defined personality and then life and choices can throw you off or develope you, I'm sure that God will let each one of us know which is occurring. I'm positive that we are to think on the Lovely, just, and good things, pure, and that also renews, and creates are minds and spirits and that it's just as effective as things we have already experianced.

I've always been a Splainer.

As in "Lucy, you've got some splaining to do".

I end up being the one that helps one side understand the other. Maybe I should have been a hostage negotiator or something, but I have (almost) always been able to see both sides of a situation and explain it to the opposing side so they can get a better understanding. It doesn't mean they'll ever agree, but at least it lessens the tension.

A couple of positive things about having ADHD are empathy and the ability to make your brain see 3 sides of something at once.
