A lot of people I know think the end times will happen during their lifetime. They are dead serious about believing this?

Why would someone get so wrapped up in when the end times are gonna be? I really don't understand how trying to interpret when the end times is gonna be helps you get ready for the end times any better? It's a mystery to me, maybe you guys can help me understand.

The end times will happen during their lifetime! When their life ends, it will be the end times.

This is true! I'm sure different people have different motivations for studying 'end times.' But personally I look at it like rix said - my time will end either way, and either way I don't know when that will happen, so if I want to be ready for it I'm better off spending my time straightening out my own life than worrying about a future that I may or may not ever see.

II Peter 3

11Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.[b]That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. 14So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.
