After being denied an NFL team, this is the question. Is he or should he be, the unofficial spokeman for the Christian right wing? The Republican party? Are his racist and/or devisive comments appropriate?

It would seem some people think so as he is one of the most successful broadcasters in history...

I do like the questions you throw sometimes. They remind us that the way we live our lives really does affect the way people will view our faith.

I believe he speaks for no one but himself.

Certainly not for me.

I agree with Chawks64. It pains me to think his comments are seen as representative of Christians because I do not believe Jesus would live or speak as he does. It definitely matters what you call yourself and who you claim to represent. Christians are called to be Christ-like. Surrendering their will to God.

I cannot judge what Mr. Limbaugh does off the radio (because I do not know) but I do think we should question not just contents of his message but the manner in which he presents his point of view.

No person is perfect so one must be careful not to point out the dust in their neighbor's eye and while neglecting the plank in one's own eye; however, the Bible says that we are known by our fruits.

I agree with the sentiments expressed. Rush Limbaugh does not speak for many Christians, anymore than Ann Coulter or James Dobson.

Yup. I highly doubt I would agree with anyone on everything.

I know. You're all shocked...

Yes... I'm blown away!

James Dobson has done a great deal to help families, and for that I believe he should be commended. However, I take issue with his political activism, and being so chummy with power broker Karl Rove. Also, you know someone has become too sure of their power and influence, when they threaten to pull their several million supporters when the Republican party fails to see things their way.

And, Ann Coulter, the female version of Rush Limbaugh, who claimed to be "more of a man than any liberal." Well, maybe she's a hermaphrodite. She also called liberalism the "church of the godless." Granted, I don't care for the big government apparatus, higher taxes, and increased spending. However, social justice,"caring for the widow and orphan," and being good stewards of the created order are not exactly "godless."

Back to Rush, who when the Abu Gahrab scandal broke, replied that the soldiers were only "letting off steam." Perhaps, Rush is partly responsible for many believing the ends justifies the means, or meanness, when it comes to the use of torture (either that, or watching too many viewings of 24).

Also, who else would reply almost immediately, upon joining NFL commentators that the only reason Donovan McNabb receives the amount of press coverage he does, is because he is black? I know dittoheads who blamed McNabb for Limbaugh getting sacked over that comment. That's bizarre logic! McNabb seems like a pretty decent guy, and I believe he has earned the recognition he has received. However, that's the bizarre logic in dittohead radioland, despise McNabb because Rush gets fired for making a racially based comment about him.

interesting choice of words, rix. "racially based" i.e. based on race. i'll give you that since the comment was about the man's race. but was it a racist remark?

and yes, i believe there is a difference.
